Dropping Names- Experienced hosts/ people please respond.

My buddy happens to be friends with a big time club guy out in vegas. They grew up together. To make along story short when my friend went out for his buddies bachelor party this guys name basically got him everything. They had a hummer limo picking them up, comped huge penthouse at the mirrage, comped tables andbottles at clubs and day clubs, spa trips, food w.e they wanted basically.

He said that his buddy just said drop his name to hostand such andtheyd take care od it just be sure to leave a tip for the host/ door guys. I was just wondering do hosts actually check up on this stuff or no? Chances are he's going to help.me out for my vegas trip but im just nervous about making no plans and just droppingnames for clubs. He isn't going to be helpping with hotel or transportation but helpinwith places like tao, surrender,ebc basicly wynn property things.

So my basic question is do hosts check up on this stuff or with the greese and the name do enough. If hosts would like the name id be happy o send it via pm. This isn't my main account I made it specificly for this question

I wouldn't count on just dropping a name and having the magic comped doors open up. Anyone could walk up and name drop some big guy in the business.

If your friend is as close with the guy as he seems to be, it shouldn't be a problem for him to make a call and get it all setup prior to your arrival at each venue.

If they're all Wynn venues, said "big time club guy" should be able to make one call to a host and get you setup wherever you want to go.

I'd love to walk up to the doors of XS on a Saturday night around midnight and say "Steve Wynn sent me.", just to see the reaction I'd get.

Honestly though, it's more on what Universal said... if the guy has connections, then it's easy enough for them to put things in place ahead of time.

My husband's best friend is an executive at a very prominent night life company that operates a number of restaurants, lounges, night clubs and ultra-pools in Vegas. Obviously, when we go, everything at these venues is comped and the door men, security, hosts and general managers are at our beck and call. I’ve never had a problem using our friends name to get in anywhere even though he isn’t with us.

BUT I have many friends that know him (as we all went to college together), and they try to use his name all the time. It never works for them. My experience is the door men, security and hosts have a really good sense of if you really know them for real and are friends, or if you just heard their name somewhere.

I would have your friend call his friend and let a host or the GM at those properties know you’ll be coming by or getting bottle service or whatever. Then ask for the contact so you can coordinate from there.
