  • Tipping ON TOP of Auto-Grat?

    Hey guys,
First up thanks so much for all the useful information on this website - it's really appreciated by us international visitors who aren't familiar with some of the more unique aspects of Vegas culture!

I'm just trying to get my head around Auto-gratuity.
We're reserved cabanas/daybeds directly through hosts at a couple of the high end Pool Parties over Memorial Day Weekend.

They've included 22% gratuity on top of the minimum spend. I get that this is normal, but what I need to understand is am I expected to tip on top of this - and if so, how much and to who?

    Thanks for your help!

The auto-gratuity goes to your server. You're not expected to tip them on top of that.

However, there is an expectation that you will tip your host or the person that sets up your table reservation and walks you to the table on the night of. A good tip to the host would be $75-$100 per bottle.

Some people think that's unnecessary but the host will make sure you're happy with your table location and can sometimes get you a better table.

you can/should also tip any runners you may have (guy who keeps your ice stocked, clears old glasses, etc.) ... $20-$50

Also don't for get to tip your bouncer too if you have one. He will make sure no one sneaks into your area and u won't have any unwanted people around. I've also heard they go out of their way to get you ladies for your area if you need them to. Take care of the people taking care of you.

whats a sensible amount to tip the bouncers? I read they'll also chaparone you to the toilets aswell! Sounds crazy but imagine it's very helpful in a packed out club.

We gave the runner a 20 and the security 50 the girls LOVED being walked back and forth from the toilets. I know by the end of the night he had alot more than 50 from us!

I've found that tipping the security can be helpful. Sometimes, if it's really busy or depending on the layout of the club, it's not always easy for them to watch your table like a hawk.

We tipped the bouncer about 50 through out the whole night. Just make sure you take care of him early and best believe he will take care of your group. Like ashroid said they walk the ladies to the bathroom. Also tip the runner, not as much but something. He will keep your ice and mixers fully stocked for your group.

50 seems reasonable between a table

Probably the wrong thread but didn't want to start a new one. What is LET tax and is it charged everywhere in Vegas clubs? I've never seen it referred to here only mentions of sales tax.

LET stands for Live Entertainment Tax. It's added whenever there's a performance by a DJ or artist. I've seen it charged even for artists that perform only a 1/2 dozen songs at a club. Sort of lame IMO.
