Whens the best time to the host?

When should you tip the host? I would much rather tip when I get to the table so I have the option if I dont like the table but is that a bad idea?

Also is it a good idea to just say upfront in an email how much I will be tipping? I am a decent tipper, 80-100/bottle.

Basically I'm trying to figure out when/how hosts decide what table to give you. Can anyone on the inside explain how this process works?

There's no right or wrong time to tip the host. Some people like taking care of the host wen they first meet them at the door and some once they r seated. The only problem is that sometimes the actual host you booked with will not escort you to your table, he will just get you in and another host will walk you to your table. So its really up to you of wen to tip but most tip right wen they see the host, you might get better results such as better table location and better service that way...

I wouldn't go and tell the host how much you are tipping him over an email just make sure you take care of him because most def he will take care of you. $80 to $100 per bottle is usually the best way to do it.
