  • Okay seriously-what's the deal with Cosmo?

I haven't been to Vegas since Cosmopolitan opened, but I've been checking out their website, and it seems pretty cool. I *really* want to stay there for my birthday trip in September.

But the reviews I've been reading on VegasTripping and elsewhere haven't been so hot. Complaints about the service being lousy, the room decor looking cheap and overpriced-are these growing pains, or a legitimate concern?

I've heard amazing things about the bars there, so I'm definitely going to check it out, but is it worth taking the risk and staying there sight unseen?

Their customer service has been shaky the three times I've been there since they opened. They're constantly trying to play catch-up fixing mistakes that should've never arisen in the first place. They've done admirable jobs correcting them but comeon man, I shouldn't be giving out goldstars for your finally checking me in or keeping track of my comps.

I've heard the horror stories and things for myself never got anywhere near those levels of awfulness but I don't discount them. There's too many.

I look forward to staying with them again, the hotel/casino is great and the rooms match up with any in the city but I wouldn't begrudge anyone for going the sure thing route and calling up Wynncore.

VegasTripping reviews put me off Cosmo as well, especially given that I can have a room at Encore for the same money that I know for a fact to be awesome. VegasTripping agrees on that front, so it suggests it's of a lower standard than Wynncore.

That said, the hotel location and bars and clubs inside can't be beat.

I stayed there in Feb for 2 nights, The customer service was good, had no complaints. The location is AWESOME, cant beat it. Theres so much to do inside the hotel as well, its always packed downstairs with people from all the other hotels checking it out! lol..they have pool tables! their buffet is good and reasonably priced..if your a guy you get into marquee for free without having to wait in to crazy of a line so thats a big plus if you arent doing bottle service...Overall, If i could change something, it would be to hold off on checking in early, we checked in pretty early so didnt get the best room cause they werent clean yet

How early did you check in? We will be arriving at about 8am and I am nervous about all their checkin issues and problems. Was going to slip the attendant a $40 for a nice view of bellagio fountains. have a wrap around suite

I just saw this post on Tripadvisor, http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...as_Nevada.html concerning early check-in at Cosmo. You may want to call to verify but this is ridiculous if the rooms are available anyway.

that's how it was with Aria too when they first opened, wasn't the best of services but they've gotten better

Also a bit nervous about my stay there in June. The place just seems to be the new "it" of Las Vegas but the reviews dont always support it. Hoping to be blown away, should expect nothing else really considering what they charge.

Hmm seems like they changed it, found this in the TA thread you posted:

                    Hi Rick,

We are not currently charging a fee to check-in early. We can check-in guests early when rooms become available, but that is a day by day decision based on our availability of rooms.

Our check-in time starts at 3pm.

                    Thanks,
                    Geoff

I've always been told to stay away from new restaurants for six months, because it takes that long for all of the kinks to be worked out. Maybe I should just plan on doubling that for Vegas hotels. I think I'll check it out in September, and if things improve, book there for a room on my next trip.

Vastly better - - last trip stayed at Aria and they seem to have really upped their game, and I would place their service right at what you'd get at The Palazzo.

Aria had a lot of issues early on, and it seems the kinks are now out.

I would wager the same will be the story for Cosmo, so if you wanna roll the dice and stay in the center of everything, but risk not having top-notch service, then by all means do it.

If you don't wanna risk NOT having spectacular service, but still want to be right in the middle of everything, the only Sure Thing in Vegas is that you will always get exemplary service and quality a few steps away at Mandarin Oriental.

Do NOT worry about your stay people.

I stayed there in March. Arrived at 3pm and there was no que to check in and both our rooms were ready on time.

There was the odd issue with room service forgetting an item or two when sending things up but other than that our stay was perfect.

Planning on staying there again in October.
