  • Has the price of Vegas changed?

I'm just curious more than anything else.

How much was the cost of a bottle, hotel room, club admission, etc... 5, 10 (more?) years ago?

Anybody have stories like "when I was your age, I popped $100 bottles at the golden nugget"?

Ten years ago in 2001, I was 20, in my junior year at UNLV.

My horrible fake ID only worked at Studio 54, cover was free for ladies, and there was no such thing as bottle service, as far as I knew.

$17 bought you one Long Island Iced Tea plus tip then you'd have to walk the 1.8 miles back to the dorms in your club wear because you just spent the only money you had which was also suppose to be cab fare.

I think bottle service has only been around about 8 or 9 years. I think Ghost Bar and Light (Now The Bank) were the first to start bottle service, and now ALL have followed. It came over from Europe . Damn Euros??!!!! lol just kidding

@KristinK I can't even imagine going to school in LV, how could you survive with so many distractions? lol. On the plus, walkng never seems as far when you're drunk.

@bdubb13 Someone needs to open a new club that breaks the trend. A club with free seating. A bottle service revolution! Who's with me!

Oh! I can chime in on this one...

There is a heated battle over who actually had the first bottle service in Las Vegas. Rum Jungle, Light, Baby's, and Drais each argue that they were the first (or, since 3 of the 4 are now closed, people who were at each will argue).

We've done several articles on this in the area media, with the consensus being that Light was the first club to require bottle service for seating, Drais was the first afterhours, and Rum Jungle was likely to have been the first to sell the actual first bottle.

Average pricing for drinks has fluctuated up a few dollars since 2004 and the average coverage charge is now typically $30 across the board, rather than some places being $20.

Hotel rates are generally down post 2008 as occupancy rates are lower because of the economy tanking, but are coming up.

The first time I remember having bottle service was in March 2004 at Rum Jungle after a Britney Spear's concert.

Rum Jungle was the shit. It was comped so I couldn't even tell you how much it was.

              Those were the days!
