Haven't stayed at the Palms in awhile but we got a good deal. Is it still fun? What are the chances of an upgrade?

2 or 3 years ago I got a sweet upgrade to the fantasy tower... told them it was a birthday...

As far as fun... not sure... I think there's still and young party crowd for the most part. If you're happy with the deal take it and take a taxi to the strip.

It's not quite what it used to be a few years back, but it's still a good time. The only downside is the location, as it's off the strip, but it's a short cab ride to most places you'd want to go.

Moon is still really fun on Tuesday nights. Ghostbar is typically pretty good on Wednesday nights.

Rain and Moon will have good crowds on Friday and Saturday. Not as great as some of the newer Tier-1 places on the Strip, but still fun.

I just stayed at the Palms this past weekend and, while it was still a good time, it didn't seem nearly as busy as I expected it to be.

W did ask for an upgrade and check-in. It wasn't free, but they moved us from a deluxe room in the old tower to a superior room in the new tower for $30/night difference. Normally the difference is $80 a night so we thought that was still a pretty fair deal. Then at check out the lady actually only charged us $30 total, which made it even better.

We also went to the clubs both nights at the Palms, but looking back on it I think the clubs on the strip might have been a better route to go. Surprisingly, most of the people at the clubs at the Palms weren't even staying at the Palms and the clubs weren't as busy as I expected them to be. I think we might have just been there on an off weekend since it was Easter, but the strip was still crazy busy when we went on Saturday during the day.

If I could do it again, I would go to Rain/Moon one night and then go to a couple clubs on the strip the other night. Just my 2 cents.

We stayed there for Halloween on a VERY good deal. But even with that, most of our savings were mitigated by the multiple cabs we took everywhere. Plus, when there is a hour or so to kill in the middle of the afternoon you can't do the same things you would do, at say, planet hollywood. I'm dead set against staying off strip again. It just isn't worth it. For someone's first trip to Vegas I would say don't do it. The exploration factor is destroyed by this property's location and that is a major fun factor while being in vegas (especially the first time). Also, when you're out and about on the strip and you get tired, have to change, want to rest, you go back to your room. Off strip, you've got to plan your trips and your evenings, just so you can go back and change, shower, rest, etc and then cab back out.

Back to the question; the Palms is a pretty good hotel/property in a bad location. It does lack the mall feature that some of the larger properties have. It's compact and self contained though I guess.

(None the less, Thanks Erock for hooking it up last October. The people made it fun.)
That being said, if you're asking if it can be done, you're probably not at the level where you could pull it off.

You want to be at the club where girls want to be... not where guys get good bottle deals.

Las Vegas was good. Hell of a ship, hell of a crew.
