Based on the article, IMO this is nuts! If he is a dude he should use the dude's bathroom. I do think Cosmo overreacted by banning him for life, I mean it's Vegas, a LOT worse things have happened. But if he is pre-op (according to some of the comments), this shouldn't matter since he will be a different person soon...

I respect everyone's choice of gender expression, its their decision, i don't care but person who still carries a penis should not be using the chick's restroom. It is just not right to me. I don't think Cosmo deserves this much hate on this but I guess it is a really sensitive topic for certain people. And looks like Cosmo already responded to it, apologized and said she/he is welcome to hotel again so what else they want?!

On the other hand i seen multiple times in Vegas and most recently on NYE's weekend chicks using dude's restroom in hotels and I didn't see any dude or security had any problem with that but I believe most chicks will def have problem with dudes being in their restroom (unless if they bring them in there intentionally )

Let me put it this way: any pervert/sex offender on the street can go into the chicks restroom and hangout with their penis in their hand and once they busted they can just say '' I don't feel like dude anyway, I am not a dude'' and everything will be alright?? Or let's take out all the labels from all the restrooms and make them all unisex restroom's, what will determine the each gender's privacy??

Now I must say this; I am not saying this individual was in there and exposing themselves, and we don't even know what went down exactly , he might got kicked out for something more outrageous and for some reason I just don't believe security will ban somebody for life because person was in opposite sex's restroom unless if they were doing something way illegal in there.

And I respect LGBT community, and I do have some friends part of this community but they have to understand majority of the public not part of them so there has to be some sort of limit to this.

Again this is a really sensitive topic so everyone can have their strong opinion about it.

+1, what's to prevent pervs from dressing up as females, going into women's restrooms, and claiming TG when they get caught? Are they going be given the benefit of the doubt or be forced to somehow prove it?

Also agree that Cosmo way overreacted and it's clear that the security guards had orders from higher up. Someone is/should be getting fired for this.

Cosmo could have easily explained that Vegas laws are different than NY's and told this individual to use the men's restroom

True it is a sensitive topic, but this is a forum and I'm open to discussion.

According to where the story broke, the restroom was empty, and security saw him go in. The fact that Cosmo has lifted the ban makes me believe there were most likely no other crimes committed.

The majorities sentiments arent always right, but I wasn't attacking your opinion just wondering where you're coming from. Like I said I'm on the fence myself.

Transgender or not, or in the correct restoom or not you deserve to get kicked out if you're doing that.

Sexual Perverts have mental issues...they are going to commit the crime regardless of the barriers in their way. I mean you already have dudes who do exactly what you're describing without feeling the need to put on a dress.

Yeah no worries, just having a healthy discussion. And to be honestly after reading the link you posted and all the comments on there I am still thinking there is more to this story. I am just having a hard time to believe security who works in Vegas hotel will overreact this much due to someone is in other gender's restroom. Especially in TAG approved hotel like Cosmo. I mean c'mon it is Vegas more crazier shit goes down all the time.

And if you are TG and fully dressed up in women clothes and look like women, I don't think security will pay attention to you that much unless if you were up to something else.

And yes you are right why Cosmo lifted the ban if there is nothing more serious but after looking at their official facebook page wall and how much hate they are getting because of this incident they prob had to lift that ban to protect their reputation and prevent negative publicity.

The issue is not about the penis. The issue is about how Cosmopolitan staff reacted to the incident. Cosmopolitan is clearly trying to attract a progressive younger crowd. That progressive wealthy younger crowd includes plenty of gay/lesbian/trans individuals. Staff in any establishment has to be educated and be sensitive and banning someone for life? C’mon. They were certified as a “gay-friendly” hotel and have to uphold that if they want the disposable incomes of all those gay guys who have the money to blow.

So penis or not – I don’t like Cosmo’s handling of the incident but am glad that they resolved the situation and hope that other establishments learn from this
