  • Is this legit?

OK so about a month ago Caesars was having this facebook Paris C'est Chic Sweepstakes. I get a email Friday saying that i didn't win the grand prize but the runner up. I won " dinner for two (2) at the Sugar Factory (maximum value $150 USD, not including alcohol and gratuities), a Sugar Factory Gift Basket, admission for two (2) to the Chateau Nightclub."

Thing is to claim the this i need to send them a "21 + Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability & Publicity Release" form within the next 10 days to get it. On the form i need to give everything:
    Full name,DOB,SSN,Address,Phone.

There was a 702 phone # a Caesars email address i called and the person i talked to said we need all that info to confirm your 21 and that we can send you a 1099 form for taxes.

What do ya guys think is this legit? .. i was thinking cant they just check my ID when i get there can see iam over 21 ?

I would Call Caesars Hotel directly to inquire & then go from there. If it was their contest, they should know about it.

      It's standard.

No, they can't just check your I.D.

He already said he did that.

Might I ask what the point of calling the hotel would do? The front desk and marketing division don't exactly go hand in hand.

It's a standard procedure/form when you win any contests. I won a trip to Hawaii through a local radio station and had to fill out 4 different forms to get it.

Why would they need your SSN?

Any type of prize/award you win needs to be reported to IRS , therefore; it is legit for them to ask for your SSN# and DOB.

Fuck that. I would call the hotel directly. I'm not handing out my SSN to just anyone. I think he said he called the number they provided. I'm hyper leery of scams. If it is legit the hotel will know about it. Maybe google the number they provided. But I wouldn't give them anything until I felt comfortable about it.

The thing is this: I understand they need all of that to proceed. But if it is a scam with a fake 702 #, you're giving them EVERYTHING they need to rip off your identity. Be careful that's all.
That being said, if you're asking if it can be done, you're probably not at the level where you could pull it off.

Google the 702 number, if you can find it on their website, then it should be legit. Either that or call the hotel itself, and then say you won a prize but lost the phone number, can you connect me with someone who might be able to give me more info.
