  • Bally's vs Flamingo

I know both are cheaper hotels so I'm not expecting anything 5 star. I've stayed at the Flamingo before and had no complaints. I'm going to Vegas in July with 3 other girls and we're stuck between two rooms. One girl has heard Bally's is "pretty crappy," but I've heard it's decent for the price. I've looked up reviews for both and it seems that the general consensus is both are dated, but decent & clean. Which of the following 2 options do you think will be the best decision. We're staying from Saturday - Thursday.

Flamingo Go Room for $170 per person for 5 nights
Bally's Classic Room for $60 per person for 5 nights
Bally's North Tower Dexlue for $150 per person for 5 nights (is this much different than a classic room? Also, the PetStay North Tower Deluxe is like $200 cheaper. I'm not bringing my dog, but do I need to bring a pet to stay in a pet stay room? Is it likely to smell like dogs from the previous guest?)

Obviously, Bally's is the cheaper deal, but would choosing that room in that hotel over the Go room be regrettable? Does anyone know how the sizes of the rooms compare. The website states the Bally's rooms are 450 sq ft, but I can't find the square footage of the Go rooms. I've stayed at Mandalay Bay, IP (first trip ever), TI, Harrah's (would not stay again), Flamingo & some hotel off the strip (for a conference). I'd lke to try Bally's, but my one friend is really against it and my other friend is somewhat against spending the extra cash on the Go room when she could spend it elsewhere in Vegas. If it was solely my choice I'd choose the Go room, but is that really the best option?

I recommend you book the standard room at flamingo, then when you get to the front desk do the $20 sandwich tip. With the tip there's a chance you might get upgraded for free to a go deluxe room with view of the bellagio fountains (never hurts to ask). The go deluxe rooms are waayy nicer. Either way Ballys is slightly annoying when walking to and from it cause of that long walkway...it's much further from the strip compared to flamingo. At flamingo you have easier/shorter walking access to the strip.

I'd pick Flamingo over Ballys any day, you and your friends will enjoy the pool a lot more too.

I've stayed in both Bally's and Flamingo. Ultimately, I have no problems with either, but I'd prefer the Flamingo for more of the fun atmosphere. Bally's is nice if you're looking for something more quiet (plus the staff is noticeably older).

If you do stay at Bally's, try to stay at the newer tower, which I believe is the North tower.

I can say with certainty that the Go room is basically a deluxe room re-done. I booked several Go rooms for a bachelor party several years ago. When I went through different rooms, some seemed bigger than others! I didn't tell any of the guys about this, but I was kind of disappointed in finding this out. But, the Go rooms are kind of cool.

I've stayed in both types of rooms, as well...

        - Definitely an option... Granted, I tried it and was denied; however, long story short, we eventually got bumped up to a GO Room.

        - So true... I loved being able to just walk out onto the Strip.

        - Agreed... Generally an older crowd all around at Ballys. Met a lot of cool people at Flamingo when I stayed there, too.

And it pretty much depends on what you want to get out of the room. If you're staying out all day and night and just need a place to crash - Ballys. Rooms were large and clean. In fact, I'd say that the regular room at Ballys was larger than the GO Room at Flamingo. If you're going to be spending more time in your room and want something more - Flamingo.

Good thing about these two hotels are they are both a part of Caesars Entertainment so even if you go with the cheaper room at Ballys you girls will still have access to the Flamingos Go Pool. Great atmosphere and ladies are free.

Is this true? I thought you could only use the pool in your own hotel.

As for Flamingo vs Ballys, I'd take the Flamingo over Ballys anytime. And what nights are you going exactly? For Go rooms, there's a upgrade promo right now that's a pretty good deal but only till end of june i think.

If you stay at Bally's stay in the tower closest to the strip. Not sure if its "north". Then you can get a NOSH sandwich on your way to the room.

Stayed at Flamingo go rooms about 3 years ago and it was pretty cool. Haven't stayed at ballys but seen there pool and that was very boring to look at. Flamingo pool is one of the best in Vegas.

I had pretty much decided on the GO room, until I stumbled across a deal at the Palms Place.

Would it be better to book a 1 bedroom suite at the Palms Place for 2 people for $250 each? I'd be booking a second room at Bally's or Harrah's or another cheaper hotel for my friend's who are more concerned with getting a cheaper hotel room. I'd stay the first night in that room and then Sun-Thurs at Palms Place. The 1-br suite looks really nice. I know the Palms is off the strip, but the room looks really nice and seems to be a good deal.

The thing is you dont' really stay in your room too much, and if cost is a concern for your friend, I suggest just stay somewhere decent and spend your money on shows and great food. Palms place is nice, but you don't really need a suite. If you want something nice and affordable, priceline the Wynn/Venetian/Palazzo or something.

I'm all for having a nice suite, but the palms is located away from all the action on the strip. you're going to be spending a lot of $ on cab rides.

Took the words out of my mouth. The savings aren't really worth it when ur spending it on cabs. It can be a pain! Out of your 3 choices, I'd go with the Flamingo, it's in a GREAT location, great pool and Margaritaville is right there for a quick drink with a nice view.

I ended up getting a studio suite at the Palms Place & airfare for less than the original price of airfare alone. I'll also have the option on using/crashing in a room at Bally's as my other friend will be staying there anyway. I figure with the money I saved the cabs won't really be that much more expensive. The original flights were at least $30 more without the package AND I'd still have to book a hotel. One my friends has it set in her head that the Flamingo is a "bad" hotel because "a few people" have told her that. I've stayed there before and am staying there again next week. I had no complaints the first time around. I think she's more stuck on the name of places rather than more important aspects (location, practicality, etc). There's no real reason the two of us need a suite other than to stop her complaining.
