  • MGM GRAND POOL COMPLEX(Backlot Lazy river)??

    HI!
I always stay at the MGM Signature and was glancing over amenities and i notice the "GRAND POOL COMPLEX," Apparently its reserved for Hotel Guests(for FREE). I took the time to google it & Yelp it & it seems to be on par with some of the popular public POOL day clubs like Rehab, etc. They have a "Backlot Lazy River" which is a snake like pool like the ones they have a major water parks. They have bars, food/drinks & club music too. It had pretty good reviews, fun looking pictures and high overall ratings.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with it? I mean if its free and there are attractive people along with cheaper drinks and no wait in line-- IM THERE!!! Just looking for some encouragement and reviews from fello partiers here on JC.com I hope someone shares their experiences, if not i'll be there for 4 days im sure my ppl wont mind checking it out one of the days instead of always paying at the other Pools.
    Thx guys!

I think the lazy river is one of the main reasons why i always stay at the MGM signature. When I wanna relax I stay at the Signature pool and when im ready to have a party and have some drinks i head over to the lazy river.

Aside from the few kids and old people that are swimming around the river, it's prety fun! There are groups of partyers throughout the river drinking it up and having a good time!!! I personally enjoy the lazy river, you may not hear the Dj's (unless you'r in the section that is close to Wet Republic), but it beats paying a cover to hangout and drink at a pool.

The only downside i think is that drink prices are still the same.
Vegas is everything that’s right with America. You can do whatever you want, 24 hours a day. They’ve effectively legalized everything there.

MGM has one of the best pool complexes in Vegas! Last Memorial Day weekend, I went with a group and we didn't want to shell out a couple of grand for a cabana at Wet Republic so we rented a Cabana at the regular pool in the backlot lazy river area and we had a BALL!! We could hear the music from Wet Republic and if you request a Cabana by the adult only pool, they usually have their own dj there during the weekends. The pool was packed and the lazy river enabled us to mix and drink with all groups of people. Another group of us are going in July and we are doing this again. The cabana was only $400 I believe. You do not have to worry about not having a good time at the regular pool there, go for it!

is it still generally a party atmosphere there? Obviously not compared to WET, but still a good time if you are looking to get rowdy?

It is not on par with Rehab, since Rehab is a pool party. Can't compare the two. The pool at the HRH attracts a younger sexy crowd mostly during Mon-Sat (without Rehab). The grand pool on the other hand consists mostly of families. It reminds me the first time I discovered Wet Republic several years back at the MGM pool. I was having a shitty time with my buddies, and we flocked to where the music was bumping and all the ladies had their party bikinis/heels on in line.

If your group of friends want to get rowdy it would happen anywhere. Don't expect to attract many randoms that looking to get rowdy though.

It may have been the fact that it was Memorial Day weekend but it was pretty rowdy while we were there and as Royale said as long as ur with a good group, you can make a party anywhere. If you set up by the adults only pool you don't have to worry about families, there is a dj there and it's a pretty good party without the cost.

I had the same experience. A few years ago a group of us were at the Mgm pool basically sleeping on the chairs and I heard the music and I remembered seeing something about Wet Republic. So a friend and I ventured over got in and had a blast... miguel migs was playing. I've been going to wet republic ever since and haven't done the regular Mgm pool since then...

Staying at the Signature May 18 to 22.
Planning to hit up Wet on Saturday but wondering if you can bring your own booze into the main pool at MGM when we go other days.

We stayed at TI a couple of years ago and saved a lot of dough by bringing our own beers out to the pool.

Ur not allowed to bring in liquor unless it's was purchased from MGM and it's in one of their beverage containers if I remember correctly. They do check any bags you have and friends of mine had beers in their backpack and had to drink them before they entered the pool area. If I recall, I had a slushy type drink from one of their bars and they put it in a sports bottle and they let me in with that but I'm not 100% sure. I do know for sure that you can't bring bottles of liquor or beer in unless you hide it pretty well.

I dont think any pool will let you take your own alcohol into the pool area anymore. I know a couple years back we were at Bally's and they were checking backpacks n such.

Given the dates your going you should check out the section on mAyOD... very similar dates

Hi I just got back from there last weekend. I was able to bring in drinks with no problem using a BIG GULP cup from 7-11. I was able to sneak it in all 3 days with no problem what-so-ever, i think maybe once the girl at the counter glanced for half-a-sec but nothing too intrusive.

We stayed at MGM a couple of years ago. Not on a holiday week.

Loved the pool complex and the river. No question WET was the way to go. Payed $150 (per) minimum consumption for two chairs on Saturday. very well worth it.

Sunday a host saw us in the pool complex at about 11:30 am and said "you need to be at WET". (my girl is HOT) He walked us in and sat us at the edge of the pool and said have fun. The place filled up in about 30 mins. and we had another blast.

Monday was the day to fly home so we stuck to the Lazy River. Had fun and relaxed. Still, very fun with less wildness but plenty of party people. This trip we will do the same. Hit the party on the weekend and reg. pools on M-W.
