2 Aussie Guys in Vegas

hey all,

I decided to join up after lurking for ages. I have been reading trip advisor forums but I was sick of all the trip reports being about food and 1 penny slots so this place is more our thing.

We are staying 4 days at hard rock 15th to 19th july and mgm from 19th to 26th july. We have no real plans, no shows or events just plan to drink, gamble and have fun.

We have been discussing whether to even bother with places like rehab and the better clubs because of the stories we hear about cover and scrutiny you recieve if you are 2 males.

Do you know if many bouncers are aussie friendly or will let you in anywhere if your a hotel guest?

We also got 2 free entrys to studio 54 and tabu at the mgm however they seem like older people clubs..

Anyway is there any must see or must do's while in vegas? besides the blatanty obvious self absorbed and gratifying (is that even a sentence) activities I have only planned to go on the go karts, maybe shoot a gun at a range if anything is closer than boulder city and the usual strip stuff like fountains and crap like that?

We have about 5000us each for 11 days so there wont be any table reservations made seeing all the 2500 bills i glimpse

Are you planning on a tame trip to vegas? Or looking for a lot of partying/fun ? Me and my gf are going around the same time as you. and it'll be lots of fun too because of the mayweather fight that weekend @ MGM. we're staying jul16-20 staying @ the venetian. i've never been to rehab but i think it's worth a try if you want to party. Unless you guys have boilers (tummies) the size of planets - i'm sure you guys won't have a problem. You realize these places are inherently superficial. But from what i hear you have to get there ridiculously early because of the long queue. Rehab looks like such a blast! You have to try it ONCE! Right?? Ideally we're going to check out Tao,Tryst,Pure, XS Body Eng. and anything else we can jam in. the good pools and restos.

I think you should try jet skiing..we're going to do that and or ATV's and it looks like fun. Grand Canyon ? Hit N9NE for dinner at some point.

You guys are in vegas for a longtime what is your survival strategy?

Hey naa there will be no tame trip here. The way I see it is I show up at Sydney star city casino and drink 20 scotches while playing blakjack for 14 hours non stop so im actually afraid of what will happen in vegas.

Theres nothing really moderate about us haha. I might have to look into the mayweather fight.. The only boxing I have ever been to is anthony mundine vs danny green who is pretty big in Australia however im not sure if youd even recognise their names in canada.

We dont have tummies haha and im pretty aware it is superficial but im sure that will be part of the fun.. Stuck up people arent all that bad.. They are just in love with themselves and you cant control love lol.

I heard you have to line up from 9am on sunday morning to get into rehab thats pretty crazy.. Do you plan to go?
We have read so many trip reports all the clubs kind of blend into one but I just plan to meet as many people as possible and hit the town something crazy.

Id love to go jet skiing and atvs would be mad.. do you have any links for them? The grand canyon is still being debated as my mate went to google earth and hes satisfied and I want to do a quick 4 hour helicopter ride there so Im not sure about that..

The funny thing is we booked flights for 1 week in LA and 1 week in vegas but we ditched our flights to vegas and are driving down in a convertible lol 4 days early.

I think we will arrive, drink, gamble, hit the clubs, bars, anything i can see and sleep during the day about 9am then wake up at 2pm and do it all again.. I plan on about 4-5 hours sleep for 4 days then ill sleep a day and do it again.

I have about 5k us and another 5k contingency just incase I lose it all in the first 4 hours lol. If you need to get into any club at hard rock just come see us and flash our room passes which I heard should help avoid the lines not that women need to line up anyway..

Greasing will probly be your best bet compared to using your room key and you shouldnt have that much trouble being 2 guys. Another thing you can do is use that aussie accent and try and get some ladies to walk in with.

For a "single" guy in Las Vegas:

- ""The" Gun Store": shoot all the guns = 200.00+
- one hour at Rhinos with one girl = 400.00 / hour
- bottle service = 500.00 + 20% tip for every bottle at the better clubs
- Rehab/Moorea/Wet Republic/blah blah blah = 50.00 ish per guy (2008 rates)

Studio 54 needs an overhaul.

Tabu is not bad, but it depends on the night and what kind of drinking you want to do. But, then again, I learned to really drink on a Contiki trip.

I stayed at the MGM last week.

Studio 54 & Tabu = DEAD

They were begging for people to come in. We never saw anyone in line for either place. I guess that's a good thing if you want the place to yourself. But I would honestly skip both.
