Review – June 5th – 9th.. pictures to be posted soon (my friends took most of the good pictures)
Friday: Landed – flight was pretty bumpy. Went straight to the hotel and unpacked stuff. Then headed out on the strip. Had our first drink and lunch on the outdoor patio at the market between MGM and Planet Hollywood. We walked all the way down to Fashion Show Mall (beside Treasure Island) first (of course) to check out all the shops. It took us about 3 hours to walk down there with all the stops for booze and ice cream and randoms stopping us and chatting (I put lipstick on some random guy.. I was helping my friend touch up her makeup, and this guy came up to us and said he wanted red lipstick..). Took a cab back from the mall to MGM and had a nap. Got ready, and then had appetizers at the Rainforest Café bar. The bartenders there were awesome!! When we paid our bill, I had about 1/3 of my drink left and the bartender asked me if I wanted a cup for my drink (I was about to just shoot it down), and I told him that would probably be a lot prettier than me trying to slam it back. So he got a HUGE Styrofoam cup (probably about 20oz) and filled it up with vodka and soda for me. “That’s pretty!”.
Took a cab over to Tryst around 10:30. HUGE line up. See a really short petite girl with a bunch of papers in her hands and we just tell her were on the Clubzone guestlist (we are not on her list, but she doesn’t acknowledge that we’re not on the list). She pulls us out of the line, comps our cover and we’re in! I almost have a tumble down the stairs into Tryst in my really high heels (ladies be careful up in Tryst!). We get some drinks and sit on a bench near the dance floor, checking out the scene and the gorgeous waterfall. Crowd there is more to our liking, mix of people our age, older. Everyone is dressed up, all the girls really went out to get ready there. We dance for an hour, have another drink and decide it’s time to move on!
Get out into the Wynn lobby and an older man who works for the hotel dressed in a suit (probably in his late 60’s? Adorable!) opens the rope for us and lets us out. We have the sweetest interaction.. Me: ‘You ready for us, handsome?’ Him: ‘Nobody said it better than Toby Keith; I am more ready not than I’ll ever be.’ Got into the cab, my friend still had her drink in the glass from Tryst (hahaha!).
Take a cab back to MGM. Go back to our room, I grab my Styrofoam drink, she refills her Tryst glass from my drink, and we go walking out to NYNY. Couple of really young guys (I swear they were only like 16? But they said they were 21) beg us to come with them to Rok. Get out front, some kid that’s 16 with crazy long hippy hair is dancing as if he’s in a trance outside, really strange... I laugh and ask the bouncer if we can get in. My friend and I are wearing skate shoes and flip flops but he doesn’t seem to have problem with that. Rok is pretty small, but good if you’re in a “I don’t care where we go” sort of attitude, which we were. And dance away with our little buddies. Leave around 2, and have baked pretzels, and off to bed!
