Host Tipping Question

First time I’ve posted, this site is GREAT! I’ve been going to Vegas a few times a year for the past 10 years and I’ve always wondered the following;

On nights where you have made arrangements with a Host for a table and bottle service how much do you tip him as you’re walking into the club and he’s getting you a table? I’m completely clueless as to how much (if any?) to give the guy and I’ve gotten a wide variety of responses (most of them gracious). Last experience I dropped the guy 80 bucks and I think I insulted him or he at least acted like it and shoved the 8 of us at a back table (prob. worst in club). Granted there were 8 dudes and it was a Sunday night at Hard Rock.

Anyway, what is the consensus on an acceptable amount?

Wow, I suck I guess, promise to remedy next time;

So on a 3 bottle night:
-300 for host upon arrival for reserving us the table
-1500 bottle tab with 20% grat - 1,800
-Plus take care of your bouncers, esp. if they bring you women or help you pour your drunk friends in a cab

Anyone else I'm missing :-)

You're forgetting 8% sales tax, and then probably $20-$40 each for the bus boy and for your security guard.

All told, a $450 bottle ACTUALLY costs you about $700-$750 to get out the door - all depends on what sort of "not included" stuff you order, like bottles of water or Red Bull.

Haha - you will be charged like $6 for a bottle of Fiji if you have table service. You might get a couple bottles included with your initial bottle order, but anything above that you probably have to pay for.

Water and Red Bull are the most ridiculously priced items in a nightclub. Just plain stupid ridiculous. I've heard as much as $16.00 for a bottle of water and close to $50.00 for a 4 pack of Red Bull. More like "Bull Sh*t" to me.
