Luxor - Not Impressed

I stayed at the Luxor and was not impressed. Not that we got a great room, but I just felt that at the end of the Strip it took forever to get anywhere.

I have no intention of staying at either end of the strip again.

It's funny, when I stayed there last Feb. I was quite impressed. I had this idea that the LUxor was a shitty hotel and would never stay there, I needed a quick and cheap room that was close to the Mandalay Bay. For a no frills hotel it isn't bad. But you're right it sucks being away from the action. Paying for a cab to go everywhere is no fun.

Yeah - it would be more acceptable if it was mid-strip, but it sux being so far away. I stayed on the cheap my last trip at Excalibur and had the same impression. But hell, we got rooms for $25/night so no complaints here!

Luxor has a different crowd. I don't really know how to explain it but you know it the second you walk in there. However, they have done some great rennovationtions there with the bars and restaurants in the lobby. I agree, too far and away from all of the action.

I figure if you're going to stay that far away from the center of the strip, you might as well stay at THE HOTEL. Anything else that far off seems not worth it unless you want to go to LAX or any of the stuff that's in MGM or the Rio and Palms.

Is it really that far? I stayed at MGM last october and it was perfect. Is it a bog difference between the two as far as lcation goes?

I stayed at Luxor few years ago. And i wasn't impressed either but I was happy with my stay (at the end you are in Vegas to me hotel room doesn't matter that much). My room was at the side building (tower) and it was much better than the rooms at the main hotel (my friend stayed at one of those room). Far as location goes to yes it is kind a away from all of the action but its not too bad

And their daily rates way lower than the other hotels on the strip so you lose some and you win some.

It really isnt very impressive but like others have said for the price its pretty good. The elevators in the pyramid can be a bit confusing - especially if you are drunk - which for me happen to be all the time. Plus it seemed like the timeshare sales people were all over the place.

Yeah I honestly don't think it matters where you stay to be honest guys. If you are genuinley displeased with the quality of the hotel itself ie. dirty room, no hot water etc then you've got a case.

But if you're just worried about being at one end of a strip, who cares. You walk it in the day and cab/limo around at night.

+1, Luxor's draw is the price, which is very competitive.

Also nothing wrong with staying at either end of the strip. By Luxor there is Mandalay, MGM, and NY NY.
