I have been to Vegas a few times, prior to this year I hadn't gone since a mediocre Bachelor Party 5 years ago. But, 2 weeks ago I just got back from great trip and am now an ardent believer that Vegas is awesome!
I'd like to give some feedback on why my trip 5 years ago sucked and why the trip 2 weeks ago rocked!
First, I should mention I'm not much for gambling... I just don't get a rush like my friends do when they win. When I went 5 years ago, we sat at a few tables then went to a club. After standing in line for 45 min we gave up and left. Dinner consisted of a buffet - nothing spectacular. We went to the general pool and relaxed the next day before sitting at the black jack tables again. What I kept asking the whole time was, "Where the f uck are the girls?!" To top off the trip we actually made a trip off the strip and that was even more depressing. I should also mention we stayed at the Luxor.
Now, 2 weeks ago, I had a much different experience. We first ate at Tao which had decent food but they let us into the club after we ate - maybe waited 5 min which I didn't mind because I could not stop staring at all the ladies walking around. At this point I'm thinking, wait "So all the girls are in the Club?!" We get in, and the place is packed. I find these two girls, very pretty in my opinion. Hang out with them in the club and out of the club.
Now I'm thinking that was one hell of a night. But I am exhausted because I didn't get to sleep until 11 AM Sat morning which is saying something when I had to be at my desk at 6AM Friday the previous morning. I'm also completely hung over. But, my friend and I wake up at 2 PM and decide to take it easy by sitting in the jacuzzi. My buddy swears he is done, last night was too over the top - I told him to stfu because I want to do it again. Back of my head I'm thinking, no way tonight will be any better because the previous night was just that too good.
So my buddy and I are starting to feel a little better after an hour in the jaccuzi and then we figure what we really need is a back message so we head to the spa. After an hour and half in the spa and $175 later my friend is now singing a completely different tune - and now telling me we have to repeat last nights performance.
So second night we head to Capital Grille (awesome bone in ribeye) before hitting the black jack tables. 12:30 rolls around so we head over to XS. We take one look at the line and decide to go a little bigger than last night so we get bottle service (there were 3 other friends of ours who we met up with so 5 total). As it turns out XS was even better than Tao, the place was much more open and easier to get around than walking up and down stairs in Tao. Also, as luck would have it I find an even hotter chick than the first night. Holly crap this can't be happening again?!
I end up waking up at 10AM to meet my buddy's for breakfast and head to the airport. By this time I am completely exhausted, and physically shaking from all the red bull I put in my vodka to keep me going. I think I only had 6 hours of sleep the whole trip. Next day at work me and my buddy's are reliving all the stuff we can't believe just happened. For me, I just had an awesome time chasing all the girls!
So, what I would say is, don't go to Vegas without expecting to spend some cash. I don't even think it was that much to begin with... total cost was
Plane Ticket - $275
Bellagio hotel room - $275
Tao dinner - $65
Capital Grille - $100
Spa Message at Bellagio - $175
Bottle Service at XS - $250 (times 5 guys)
I had expected to loose $500 gambling but I actually won $1,000. So my net cost was pretty close to $0 when factoring incidental tips and drinks. I would say though that had I lost the $500 by trip would have been roughly $1,500.
And that's how I was saved and converted to one of the faithful!
