Since I'm planning on taking a trip in the middle of July and then one for Labor day weekend I have to be cheap on one of those trips... and the trip in July is going to be it. I know both of these are owned by Harrahs but I just wanna know which one you would go with and why? Thanks!

I always say you get what you pay for.
I'm staying at Bally's in July, and while i've walked into the Casino i've never seen the rooms.
I paid $350 for round trip from Chicago to Las Vegas AND 3 nights at Bally's. I didn't exactly break the bank on this one, haha.
If you're not staying in a nice suite, I would say look at location/price. That's all that is important. How close can you get to the action for the least amount of money (or a balance of both). Bally's is pretty much in the center of the strip which is why I picked it.
Needless to say, i'm not expecting much other than a bed to shut my eyes in for a little while each day, and that's fine with me.

Avoid Luxor at all costs. That place has really gone downhill. I went in Oct '07 when they were still renovating /getting rid of the Egyptian theme, so that may account for some of my experience; but that place is not worth spending money in.Originally posted by Cisco419 View PostWell after not getting the time off I was requesting this thread doesn't matter anymore. This was going to be for my July trip, now for my Labor day trip I'm debating on Mandalay or Luxor... or Palms since I've stayed there before and it was pretty awesome!

Well the reason I was thinkin about stayin there was cause they have some sort of 8pm check out deal and since I'm lookin at a return flight of 940pm it sounded like a good plan! I've heard both good and bad about them so I dont know.Originally posted by masterdeviance View PostAvoid Luxor at all costs. That place has really gone downhill. If Luxor is giving you a really sweet deal or extra cheap rates, then you oughta go for it. But Mandalay Bay definitely puts Luxor to shame. Only thing is MB is likely to be more expensive, so you could just stay at Luxor and hang out at MB since it's right next door (that's what I did). a nice way to save $ while still kicking it at the better property.Originally posted by Cisco419 View PostWell the reason I was thinkin about stayin there was cause they have some sort of 8pm check out deal and since I'm lookin at a return flight of 940pm it sounded like a good plan! a hidden gem of mine is monte carlo.....PROS:always pretty cheap rates, very clean hotel, nice size rooms, easy access to the strip not a huge hotel and easy to find people and very easy to get cabs CONS: south end of strip, not great restaurants, and city center construction whcih can get annoying at the pool.....alot of hotels offer the late check out option just tell the person at check in you need it with the $20 trick and you should be fineit's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss

I did a quick check for a random weekend, June 25-28.
Bally's $417 ($139/night)
Harrah's $340 ($113/night)
Harrah's FTW. If you're going on the cheap, and you're going other places anyway, that's a no-brainer. You can even upgrade your room and save 7 bucks total over the Bally's price.
'Course if you really want to slum it, there's always Imperial Palace for $240 ($80/night)
