I convinced my wife to take me back to Vegas for my birthday. We are going with six other party animals.
We are arriving Thursday July 30th and leaving Sunday August 2nd.

Itinerary so far:

thursday
Arrive at about 915pm. Checkin at Palms. Table at Tryst or we will try our luck out at a strip club then on to Drais

Friday
Ditch Friday at the Palms. Will try to get a cabana.
Moon table service

Saturday
Moorea vs Wet republic
Rain table service

SundayRehab till about 5pm
Depart drunk at about 10pm

A couple of questions.

How is Vegas during this time of year? I love it when the place is packed. Dance floor jammed. Will I be disappointed?

I am thinking of booking a playpen suite at the palms. Anyone ever stay in one of these? How are they for partying? Worth the cost? $5k for three nights. Any pictures of the suite? If I do get one you can all come party.

Wet Republic vs Moorea. We were at Wet for MDW and it was awesome. Had a daybed, 2 bottles of goose and tons of food. Great time. I would really like to see the wife shed the bikini top (Hot). How does Moorea compare? Similar party atmoshpere? Do they have daybeds and cabanas?

man you are a beast! lol, i would try bare since you have allready been to wet republic. although bare and moorea are both small . it does sound like you guys know how to party so I think you all will have a good time regardless.

Dropping cash in Vegas is an understatement. Basically over MDW I paid for everything, but I dont mind. I have a great job that pays me oddles of money with 12 wks off per year.
Bonus has been that I have been trading the market consistantly over the past 10 years. Last year I went to cash at the right time only getting burned slightly by the downturn in the markets. I was fortunate enough to get back in near the bottom. What is really funny is that I bought thousands of shares of Las vegas sands at $2 and have only sold a few thousand at about $11. Nothing like investing where you party!!!!!

Hot... Oakenfold has been spinning at Rain... not Tiesto... but that would be bad ass to have them both there

Oakenfold was wonderful on April 18th when we were there... We had Cabana #3 ... up stairs ... great energy... great music... wonderful time... i never wrote my review on this night... but it was a wonderful time.

Im traveling solo but i'll be looking for good party crew pretty much 24/7 haha

Playpen Suite was NOT worth the cost in my opinion. We had the connecting room that had 2 queen beds attached to the suite so we had 3 total beds....and I don't think it was worth the $2,200 per night (back in '06). Here's the suite on the website (I will try to dig up the pics we have from '06)

Me and 7 buddies stayed in a 2 bdrm suite (1600 sq ft) at the Mandalay Bay in Jun'08 for my bachelor party and that was well worth the cost ($680/friday and $740/saturday). I would recommend this over Palms anyday...

I like your style...I invested in LVS and MGM call options a couple of months back. I am thinking they will pop again in the near future so I am currently looking at MGM Jan'10 $10 calls as this is the time City Center is supposed to be complete. Even if MGM is struggling a bit, as long as the City Center gets built on time, this stock should see mid-teens to (hopefully) low 20's. Just my 2 cents.

oddly there was alot of volume on those, so you may be onto something, taking a look at the max pain calculator comes up with 12.5, if this plays out you will lose your $$$

each jan 2010 call strike price will run you 1000 bucks.

lets say you invest 5000, you get 5 contracts or 500 shares.

given the current share price of 6.65, you could purchase approx 800+ shares and you do not run the risk of your options expiring worthless.....and ofcourse there is a good chance they will.

the downleg started yesterday which should bring the S&P to the 840 area sometime around the 4th of july, then should rebound to the 990 range approx end of august.

look at picking up shares either in beginning of july or if your giong to play options look at picking up your jan 2010 options sometime in the beginning of december. this would also allow you to pay alot less instrinsic value.....

this is my opinion....I could be right I could be wrong the only other time I spoke of stocks was out of the blue on superhost's thread. google was at 401 and I mentioned googles fair market value was 440, it was trading at 445 2 weeks later. apple was in low 120's and I mentioned it looked like it would make the mid 140's, well it did.

maybe I just got lucky

Irock - not sure where you are getting the $5k for 5 contracts (or 5 x 100 shares). Jan'10 calls are only $1.05 (or $105 per contract)...so $5k worth would be closer to 50 contracts.

I agree with the intrinsic (time) value, but feel there really won't be any news that comes out until the fall/winter. To your point, if the stock price hoovers around the $6/share for the next couple of months, might as well wait til the call options go down in value. Otherwise, if in December the stock rises to near $10, value of the option will be much higher.

I'm still holding the Jan'11 calls (only sold to cover my basis) but wish I would have sold when MGM was in the 13's a month ago (would have been 7x but now closer to 2.5x due to stock price drop). Shoulda, coulda, woulda.

Just keep watching the support levels and if they don't break past $6, it could be a good sign.

Irock - another industry that treated me well in '04 - '08 was oil. I don't think oil heading to fast upwards anytime soon as it is hoovering around $70 and the $ is becoming more and more worthless...but take a look at nat. gas stocks. Here's a 10 year trend line on historical nat gas prices.

I noticed natural gas starting to move up, fast money mentioned about trying to squeeze out a few more longs before it starts to go up, who knows. although doesnt natural gas trend higher towards the winter?
