I've found the need to pinch myself to see if this is all real.
I am a priveleged afternoon guest at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at the end of April. Unfortunately not at Westminster Abbey for the wedding itself, the numbers are too restrictive, but at Buckingham Palace for a short reception afterwards. How exciting !
But it gets better, I am then off to Vegas with my mates a week later !!
The reason for the invite is that I know Kate's parents, Mike and Carole reasonably well. They live in the same village in England as I do (a place called Bucklebury, it's tiny) and everyone knows everyone. I met them many years ago and often see them drinking at the local pub, though less so in the last year since the spotlight has been turned. My parents were invited to the afternoon reception as they know Mike and Carole well, and my my sister and I are also invited. Indeed 60% of the guests will be friends and family, rather than freeloader celebrities which makes a nice change. Incidentally, I've only met Kate twice, (she's 5 years younger than me) though she is really down to earth, as like her parents. No one in sleepy Bucklebury ever expected this !
Then on Thurs 5th May I am off to Vegas with the 'boys' for a 4th trip in 10 years. Can't wait, staying at Palms Place, hitting Tao (Thurs), XS (Fri) and can't decide on Sat! We're going to tear it up !
I will endeavour to share a TR for both the Wedding day and also my Vegas trip upon my return. I'll also share photos where possible, at the moment they are advising we aren't allowed to take cameras into Buckingham Palace. I will be sent official photos a few days after, and I'll post these if you guys are interested.
Is the Wedding a big thing in the USA ? The guys accompanying me to Vegas are very excited and pleading with me to take some of the official photos and see if they can use it as 'bait' for potential targets!! (a little sad, but I'm willing to try ;-)
