  • Solo trip, where to go?

Will be in town Sun 2/13 to Sat 2/19 working a trade show during the day. Staying at TI, wondering what might be some good places to hang in the evenings with a cool crowd. I'm a late 30's guy. Thinking casino bars might be the way to go. Any dinner ideas are welcome as well.

I do solo business trips to Vegas now and then too--and am in your age range.

I have tried the Table service route and it hasn't really worked for me. One host said I could join his table (he alleged to have stripper friends coming) and then was an hour late, had mostly guys (one girl who, to his credit, was a stripper) and did not have a table--just guest listed us in the club and left us out to dry. I left after an hour.

Since I apparently don't learn from my mistakes, I tried again the next night at a different club. This one the host planned on being there and helping "make a party happen." Then the day of, he tells me his "girl is sick." The table was excelent as was the service, but I ended up being the creepy single dude ogling all the girls on the dance floor while trying to finish an overpriced bottle of vodka by myself.

So...in your shoes, and if I had to do it again, I would not do bottle service in the clubs (if that was on your list). Some of the smaller clubs (Blush, LAVO are ones I've been to) might be fun to guest list into, but, yes, for meeting people and talking to them, I think the casino bars would be the best. I've had fun at Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio (Caramel), MGM (back bar) and others. Much easier to meet and talk to people there, at least for me.

For solo dining, I had a GREAT time sitting at the bar at atelier Joel Rubichon at the MGM once. Don't know if that' an appropriate price. Also had a good time doing bar dining at Yellow tail at the Bellagio and lots of people I talk to have had fun at Olives also in the Bellagio.

        Good luck!

To be honest I have gone to Vegas by myself multiple times. The irony is that those trips are much better than when I was with a large group. Vegas is a place where people get scattered anyway so I just feed off the vibe when talking to girls. Sometimes I say I'm by myself and people think its awesome. Other times I say my friends aren't club guys etc and are gambling.

I would suggest ultra lounges for you. Blush is very good. Its a place that has a great vibe. U can talk to people to its not just a club. I've had all sorts of fun there kicking off an evening there . Classy crowd to.

                nice topic

have being doing vegas since 2002... go about twice a year.

                have done groups... fun

                have done solo... fun

I find going out is a gamble just like playing at the tables... great nights... good nights... boring nights... bad nights... same with strip clubs.
Have a go at it and see what happens...

gotta be in it to win it

I think the advice to stay away from solo bottle service is pretty good. If you're going to roll that way, a group of friends is much more fun. A few times, I have met a group of friends at the tables when in town solo.. and ended up doing a few bottles later when we were done... can't imagine enjoying it solo. There are so many more things to do that WILL be fun... a single guy w/ bottle funds will come out better at the Rhino or maybe OG.

Not knocking the bottle service... just have some friends. Nothing worse than being alone in a room full of 200 people...

I've been wanting to do Blush... will be back in about 30 days.. staying @ Encore. Will have some friends in town... not sure how much we'll hang... like someone else said, you always end up splittnig up, anyway. It's Vegas.

good topic... hope to hear from some others.
