Id Question

I thought of this idea after reading another post regarding a similar issue.

I'm going to be heading out to vegas for my 21st Bday in August for about 4 nights with some buddies. Anyways, In Massachusetts(where Im from) when you turn 21 you go and have to get a new license. They take your picture and what not, then print you out a paper copy. The hard copy takes sometimes up to 2 weeks to get to you in the mail. Now the problem is that the under 21 Ids expire on your 21st birthday. Were planning the trip 10 days after my birthday to attempt to be on the safe side. However, I have seen a few random cases where it takes over 2 weeks to get the hard copy :/. Im just wondering you frequent vegas goers opinion lol will clubs take my expired ID if I have a CC backup and the new paper license or like would I be better bringing my passport to? Basically Im just looking for suggestions from anyone that knows or has experience with these types of things.

I would bring the passport even if you do get the new ID in time. ID's do get lost and having that as a backup will be a good insurance policy. Put it in the hotel safe and don't forget it when you checkout

My daughter turned 21 in Vegas and they took the expired license with no problem-it had even been mauled by her dog. Take a backup (like your passport) just in case-but keep it in your hotel safe.

im from mass too so i ran into this same issue...i just renewed my license over the summer so that by the time my birthday came around (it was in october) i had a new id that was not expired. only thing is that it would still be the vertical one, they wont give you the horizontal 21+id until after your actual birthday!

depends on the venue. i'd bring your passport as well, and the copy of the paper that your state gives you. at hard rock, we don't accept any expired ID's, unless they have the little paper from the state saying that a new one has been issued. we get that all the time from people from california, but as i said, much easier to have a valid form (passport) to alleviate any headaches/hassles if your new id hasn't arrived yet

Im gonna say if your a hot girl probaly wont be an issue, but if not I would bring the passport. Nothin like being stuck at a casino bar when you really wanna be up in the club.
