You just buy a voucher at a fraction of the cost and use it in that restaurant?

yeah, what you're buying is basically a gift certificate you use towards your food purchase. check the terms before you buy it though, since like someone said most of them don't allow you to include your alcohol in the amount that's covered by the gift certificate, and for some you have to order a certain number of entrees or make reservations ahead. but for the most part they're really good deals - i have a bunch for vegas that i bought for $2 each that are good for $35 worth of food each. they don't expire either

Yes, you buy the certificate at a discount rate and use it toward your meal. Usually there is a minimum amount that your meal has to be (i.e to use a $25 certificate your meal must cost at least $35, etc.). With the discount code you get an already great deal and an amazing price! For example, you buy a $25 certificate which normally costs $10, enter the discount code and you only pay $2 for it. A lot of the certificates include alcohol as well, so meeting the mininum required to use the certificate should not be a problem and you save a lot of money at great restaurants!

Keep in mind that you can only use one restaurant specific coupon per person/party per month. So you can't buy 3 certificates for Mixx at Mandalay and go three different times during the same trip, etc.
