  • Need club/bar recommendation

    Hey all

me and 5 friends, all guys, will be in town from the 14th of march to 21 March.

We are either looking for a place with good live music or a more laid back place, actually I have to say that half the group are kinda snobby when it comes to music so top 40 is a total no no, I know Vegas isn't known for its indie, noise, experimental scene but if there is something like that please advise, hell even a retro rock/soul/funk thing might be cool.
I just know this is gonna be a sticking point for the group and Im trying to get some ideas ready.

If there isn't just recommend a place where the music is soft enough that it wont annoy anyone.

Cost may also be an issue and I think we would like a maximum spend of 3000.00 for the evening.

    Any help is appreciated.

Look into The Cosmopolitan, it's brand new and has an indie spirit to it. There's a bar called Book&Stage where you can catch live bands for free and the place is full of modern art. The nightclub there ,Marquee, has 3 different rooms, and one called The Library is just what you're looking for I think. It's more of a lounge with eclectic music and it's own live DJ. I'm sure with your budget they will be able to accommodate you guys with a great table in there. Derrick Runtas is a host there and comes highly recommended by forum members he can set you guys up to have an awesome night. I'm going those same dates by the way and planning on doing B.S. at Marquee that Friday maybe we'll bump into each other.

Went to the Book&Stage earlier in December and saw Mayer Hawthorne for free and it was amazing. Bar is decently priced and just good times in general. Def go check it out if ya can.

I would recommend checking into the Double Down Saloon. Definitely has live music and definitely isn't a Top 40 place. Then again, I wouldn't really know what classifies as "indie, noise, experimental" music these days.

Another place that I would highly recommend (based on your second part) would be the The Griffin downtown (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-griffin-las-vegas). I'm surprised that place doesn't get more run than it does. I'd also maybe look into spending some time at the Artisan hotel.

I'm thinking with a 3000 maximum spend you are going to be fine pretty much anywhere!
