  • Questions from a newbie!

What a great site! Headed to Vegas in June and have a few questions that hopefully some of you can answer.

    1) Will the host who puts you on the guest list be there to walk you in? From reading all the great advice it seems women don't pay cover, but should we tip instead and if that's the case, how much are we "expected" to tip?

    2) Are there any pools/resorts that are open to the public/non-guests? With the exception of pools like Rehab/WR/etc.

    3) Thinking about staying at the Signature Suites. Are the bathrooms big enough for 4-5 girls to get ready in?

    Thanks for the info!

      1. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Just ask the host if they will be there to walk you in. If not, make sure to ask exactly what you need to go, if you are to ask for someone in particular etc. If the host does meet and walk you in, and waives cover (I'm assuming your all girls). I'm a guy so I'm used to tipping, girls not so much. I suggest $10 per person for girls and if girls are in my group that's how I usually calculate it for the girls, but I know in general girls don't really tip.. so really anything will make the host happier I'd say.

      2. Not specifically sure, but it's not like the security for hotel pools are high level so I'm sure you can find some pools to sneak into if needed.

      3. I think so? Girls will have to chime in

I always get a two bedroom suite when I'm traveling with 4-5 girls, that way you have two full bathrooms. I believe Signature has two bedroom options.

I stayed at the Aria 2 bedroom sky suite about a month ago and absolutely loved it. Lots of room to pregame and yes, the bathrooms are huge!

            More newbie questions

Here's some info. on our trip in case that matters. Likely 3-4 women for sure, ranging from 24 to 30 (trip is for my 30th). One week in June (probably a Monday to a Monday).

            1) what's the one thing you absolutely would not miss when you're in Vegas?

            2) Weeklong stay -- what are the best pools to hit daytime (and maybe nurse that hangover). I think we'll figure out clubs later...though suggestions are welcome.

            3) I don't want to look like a typical vegas slut. I also don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on nice dresses. Any ladies out there have suggestions for good classy yet sexy clubwear?

            4) this probably belongs in another forum, but we haven't picked our hotel yet. I think we'll be okay with just a place to lay our heads and it seems like there are more than a few mid-range hotels on the strip that would be just fine. Any of them favorites for any of you?

            5) I know this may not be worth it to some folks, but I'm getting my first tattoo at club tattoo while we're there. There's an artist who has something very similar to what I'm looking for and I am probably overpaying, but I'm okay with it. So excited. Going to do it close to when we leave. Not sure there's a question in here, but tips/FYIs appreciated.

            Thanks!

Everything I wear out is BCBG, classy, updated and sexy but not slutty.

Before locking into The Signature, you should compare rates at The Platinum -- suites are bigger and more centrally located (right beingd Bally's) but not attached to a casino -- No Smoking. Depending on what is most important to you, it may be a better suite option....At least worth checking out.

Congrats on the 30th, I'm headed for that myself, doing a big trip in November to celebrate!

The one thing I tell people not to miss, as a self anointed veteran of Vegas, is RELAX...so many people go there and go insane trying to do anything and everything they can. One of my favorite spots is the Fountains at the Bellagio, grab a tasty drink and go sit and relax around dusk watching the shows and watching people. I can easily spend a couple hours there and it's a good way to loosen up before a night of partying.

As far as hotels go, I've stayed at most of them and honestly one of the best places to stay when you're running on a budget or simply aren't hyped up about luxury is Imperial Palace. A lot of people knock it, but if you just want a place to lay your head it's definitely the hotel to do it. IP sits in a fantastic position on the strip and offers some decent rooms for good prices. Like I said though, if you are looking for the newest brightest hotel rooms you'll be disappointed, it's a clean hotel room, but not fancy by any means.

Hope this helps and congrats again on the 30th!

Thanks...BCBG is definitely gorgeous, but I'm looking to stay more along the $50 range rather than the $150 - $250 range. Unless you have a great online retailer you'd suggest!

I'm lucky I have a BCBG outlet around the corner from me, try bluefly.com

Yeah, Iowa does not equal fashion capital. Thanks for the tip on bluefly.com!

                            Hey all,

If anyone cares, here's a thread about some affordable places for clothes: http://forums.jackcolton.com/showthr...ghlight=attire

It included: greatglam, fredericks of hollywood, asos, bebe, guess, wet seal, charlotte russe, forever 21, express, victoria's secret, bodyc, and forplaycatalog

I found a few sites that had some not super trashy, affordable dresses. There are also some really cute ones on modcloth.

Still up for suggestions! I have four more months to shop

From my experiences as long as you look good it doesn't matter what brand you are wearing, I've honestly been with women who walked in no wait/no cover wearing clothes from Kohl's and Target....dress hot, look hot....doormen don't care what brand it is as long as you look good.
