  • Superbowl Weekend can't come soon enough!

Checking these boards daily is torture when you are a few weeks from a big trip. So the trip is mostly planned out, with Sunday night being left open/flexible to make the decision that evening.

I'm getting in early Saturday morning (8:30am!), any suggestions on what to do after we drop our bags off at the bell desk? There's maybe 10 others in our group on the flight, so I was thinking maybe head to breakfast somewhere. Staying at Excalibur (super cheap rooms, and walking distance to the fights at Mandalay), any suggestions on stuff to do in the morning/day? I was thinking of maybe doing the spa day pass at Mandalay with my wife, but I don't know if it's really anything special.

4pm it's off to Mandalay Bay to watch the fights, with a stop by the sports book on the way . Sunday watching the Superbowl at a local sports bar, nothing too special but it should be fun. Then Sunday night hope that everyone isn't too blasted from the game, and we'll all be heading out for table/bottle service at either XS/Tryst/Vanity/Marquee. I think the plan is to just see what everyone feels like after partying all day, and call around to see what we can get at either place.

Monday morning wake up, get some breakfast, then fly back home for some R&R.

I'll be there with a smaller group (4-5 ppl total) also staying at Excalibur - I agree, Superbowl weekend can't get here soon enough!!

Breakfast at Mandalay followed by the shark reef aquarium there is definitely cool if you haven't seen it yet. My wife spent a lot of time at the Mandalay spa a couple of years ago and loved it, but I'm not a spa guy, so I don't know what to tell you about that.

We're watching the big game at Cabo Wabo - good deal on all you can eat / drink and tables still available. I have no idea what our evening plans will be, but we might be up for meeting some other JC folks for a drink or 10!

Me and the guys haven't made any official plans apart from XS on Monday as we all get in town on various days.

No doubt i'll see you there, or you'll see me propping the bar up!!

I am also ready for Superbowl weekend and yell at all Steeler fans!
I'll be out there that weekend as well. I'm planning on hitting up either TAO, Marquee or Tryst on Sat night and maybe a late night run to the Rhino for Sat night. I think I may wander around the Mandalay Bay around the UFC fight to check out the scene. Roknroll what do you think the chances are of your friend in his match? If good maybe I will throw some money on him. How much is the package a Cabo Wabo for the game? I'm still going over a bunch of options. Boykster if you have room for a JC newbie I wouldn't mind throwing a drink or two down with you guys.
I have not yet begun to defile myself.

TBH, I don't want to talk about it or give inside info on here about my friend who's fighting on here. Mandalay is going to be crazy on fight night. The event is 100% sold out already, which often doesn't happen this far in advance. Yes, they always sell out but on their big New Year's fight the UFC comped close to half the tickets to people.

They are starting to sell tickets for $50 so people can watch the fights on closed circuit TV in a mandalay ball room. It's a great fight card on a huge weekend. I've been to a few UFC fights, and if you wander around Mandalay the day before or day of the fight you'll see 10+ other fighters who are just there to watch. If you aren't doing anything on Friday around 4pm, go to watch the weigh ins. They are free and open to the public!

The Cabo Wabo thing seems like a great party. $50 for all you can eat buffet, and another $100 for all you can drink package ($150 total). You can also just buy drinks individually. We actually almost ended up there with Kyle and Bader hosting a party with the playmates, but we ended up getting something set up at a friend's sports bar off the strip. I did a lot of research into super bowl parties, and that's the one I'd probably pick just cause it's cheaper for people who don't want to pay $100 for a drink package, but still offeres unlimited drinks to those who do.

Another good party in the same hotel is the PBR Rockbar. $100 for free drinks, $125 to get free drinks plus food. Or you can reserve tables and order bottles/food off a menu (they have a food/drink minimum). We almost ended up there too. PBR Rockbar seems like a bigger venue with more of a party atmosphere. Cabo Wabo is a bit more like a restaurant with a lot of TVs.

I'm a JC noob too, and I'd be up for tossing back a few drinks with some forum mates! Kinda funny that the Excalibur is the unofficial JC hub for superbowl weekend - weather won't be pool friendly, so cheap rooms are king IMHO!

We decided on Cabo Wabo based on a few things - the price options seemed good, playmates, and guaranteed table if you book soon. roknroll got the price list correct (from $50 for food only to $150 for food+drink) but you also have to factor in 8.1% tax and 22% gratuity (I got the contract today). Still not bad, but just like everything in Vegas, the fine print jacks the cost.

            Man I can't wait!

Fair enough hope your friend does well. I'll be on the look out for the Kingsbu shirts too. Looking forward to the scene at the Mandalay on Saturday. I will try to stumble my way into the Excal for some shots and drinks all weekend.
