  • Guide for the Solo Traveler

    Hello Everyone,

I first wish to express how impressed I am with this site, and the forums.
There is a lot of great information on here.

However, even though a search for "solo" returns several threads, there really is not a comprehensive guide, or even a listing of links.

I am heading to Vegas between 02/06 to 02/11. My first vacation in years. I have already may some plans, and got a great deal at a hotel at City Center. My plans include some shows, and some tourist type excursions and such.

But, looking at what I scheduled and the times, there is still plenty of gaps for hours on end of free time. Since I am not a huge gambler, I do not wish to spend the time in the casinos.

So, if anyone out there can help, please set up a sticky, or even a guide page for recommendations of how to enjoy Vegas being the solo visitor. Heck, I will even take emails at this point.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Eric

The best suggestion I can give you is to be outgoing but not to the point of being annoying. It's pretty easy to meet groups of people at the pool parties during the day and then roll with them at night, provided you click with them from a personality standpoint.

Another idea is to ask if anyone from JC.com is going to be there at the same time as you. You may be able to find someone to split the tab with at a pool and/or a club.

If none of that works, you can go to the pools/clubs by yourself. If you have some game and a good personality, you should be able to meet some girls to hang with.

2/6 to 2/11, don't think you'll be doing any visits to the pool

A good recommendation is to check out the "Getting Connected" section of the forums - - there is a master Google Calendar that's updated frequently so you can see which members are visiting in your time frame.

Haha...somehow I read his post to say 5/6-5/11.

Anyway, I think the gist of my message still applies as far as being outgoing and meeting people while he's there.

          Agree with Universal,

I went to Vegas with my parents when I was 22 (free trip) and I was a solo traveller for most of it.

I actually really enjoyed myself, having the freedom to do whatever I wanted. Unfortunatley I didn't know about JC so I was an amateur when scounting out nightspots etc but during the day I pretty much walked up and down the strip exploring. There are still plenty of things to do if you are not a big gambler during the day.

The "Getting Connected" guide would be your best bet.

          Good luck!!
March 2011 was easily the best time of my life! Currently saving for MDW 2012 - who's coming with!?!?!?

            Thanks Guys

            Thanks to all of you.

I am just trying to fill in those spots of times where I am free.

I will keep researching and reading up to the minute the plane lands.

If anyone has a list of favorite spots, restaurants, general areas, just email me.

            Thanks again.

            Eric
