hi,
i'm visiting vegas for the second time this october, and new orleans for the first.
am wondering whether it is better to do halloween in vegas or new orleans?? has anyone done either or both?

Never thought of bourbon street during holloween, I would think if dress up is your thing then n.o. might be your choice, but I really wouldn't put a high expectation on it. It's a couple blocks long , bars, beads, Booze and a party attitude..... But you get that in vegas.

thanks for the info. i would love to do the dress up thing - its my first halloween, but it its only a few blocks it might not be worth the trip down there. extra nights to spend in vegas!

Are you going on a Contiki trip?

I've been to New Orleans, aka NOLA. It's tough to compare between NOLA and Las VEGAS.

I can only relate to NOLA in November 2003/April 2004 (pre-Hurricane Katrina), but the bars stay open until the street sweepers come. This happens around 5 am.

There's several areas to hang out in NOLA, such as the Bourbon Street and the French Quarter, near Tulane University, Magazine Street and another street whose name escapes me. The vibe is much more relaxed than Las Vegas and you can pretty much go in shorts and flip-flops into clubs and bars.

The only things you can't wear are sport jerseys and shirts that tie-in to gang colours.

Places such as Razoo's used to sell tube shots for 2.00 each and the waitresses serve them to you in all sorts of ways. If you want, you can buy a whole tray of them (24 shots).

A family friend who moved back there (moved to Las Vegas because of Hurricane Katrina) told me that NOLA as a whole is still trying to re-build. It will take time. But, most of the party spots are hopping.
