Can someone advise what the tipping etiquette should be in vegas and how much to tip?

It depends on how far the host went to show you a good time.
If its someone who booked you the table and they are walking you in (like any of the solid JC contacts) then at least $100. Minimum.
I have heard guys at Ghostbar (hosts) go off about a guy who "tipped them a $20"
I give $100 for every bottle.
I hand nothing less than $20's for our server. The last girl who served us was a rockstar (went above and beyond) I probably tipped her 7 times over the course of the night.
Don't neglect the runners or security either. Nothing crazy but having some cash for the security and the runner a couple times goes a LONG way.
You would be surprised how well you are treated when you tip well and extend people a modicum of respect.
As far as you host for the night, the Benjamin per bottle method is a safe bet.
Of course, you can make other arrangments with a host. Some are more open to a lesser bottle minimum if you tip more.
Make such deals with care and only test it on guys who are PROVEN JC Contacts.Last edited by Breeze; 12-02-2010, 09:41 AM.

OK-again, being somewhat innocent to Vegas--what is a "runner"?Originally posted by Breeze View PostIt depends on how far the host went to show you a good time.

Possibly getting a table for my daughter's 21st birthday-just so we all have a place to sit and a "meeting place" so we can all go do our own thing..... Same $/tip for a table of girls as for guys??? obviously the server is gonna get taken care of if she/he takes care of us - just asking because I see the descrepencies between how groups of guys and groups of girls are handled/courted at the clubs....I feel sorry for people who don't drink, when they get up in the morning, that's best they're gonna feel all day!

A runner is the person/people that will usually clear your glasses, refill ice, etc. Basically the bus boy. The tip should be the same no matter the gender of the party; good service is good service.Originally posted by MammaJett View PostOK-again, being somewhat innocent to Vegas--what is a "runner"?

I figured that for the waitress/runner(bus boy) etc and I think they do auto-grat that where we are going.....but since I had seen differing amounts to give the host for girls vs. guys-- I've worked in service before but never VegasOriginally posted by ReasonableDoubt View PostA runner is the person/people that will usually clear your glasses, refill ice, etc. Basically the bus boy. Sounds like a city in China..... but it amazes me how often I see people tip little to nothing to the servers walking around serving the FREE drinks to people playing. I guess the mind-set for many is the drinks are free, so they have a hard time keeping it free.
Just remember a couple things:
1) These ladies work off of tips. this is how they pay their bills and in most cases they keep the smiles and attitudes positive through all the crap they get constantly from guys (and gals) hitting on them.
2) And for many the most important: have you ever had a situation where the amount of time between your 1st and 2nd drink was crazy long? This could have been because of the tip you left on the first go around. The 1st drink you get I always make it a habbit to tip close to the amount of what the drink would cost PLUS the tip. Give them a good tip and maybe do something to lighten their day with a goofy joke or something, and watch how fast your service becomes. After the 1st time around, then it's more then fair to start going off the guidlines as shown on the 1st reply to this post.
** Other then the servers, I always will tip what you should as stated in the appropriate tip since that is generally what they are taxed off of, but IF and WHEN you get exceptional service, let your money do the talking.
