OK. Damn it. My computer started acting funny earlier, so I have to re-write this.
2010 (very condensed) Trip Reports
January 2010
AVN - some friends and I have always thought of going for the AVNs. I usually go in January for the W.O.C. (World of Concrete) but we figured how to go down - as industry. It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of women non working in the industry too.
I don't remember much except for going to the AVNs at the Sands and the two clubs we went to:
Tao on the Friday - I don't remember much of the night except:
- meeting Richard Candido for the first time and him hooking us up with a table in the Opium room. Straight shooter, very personable and friendly. I was originally trying to get a table in the main room, but for our budget (we had women with us and you know how that goes) we went with the Opium room. I'm glad we did because the main room was filled a LOT of guys. The Opium room played more r&b/hip hop, while the main room plays more of a mix (fine by me, but not with my friends). Also, the Opium room has a lower table minimum.
- my buddy trying to get me to "take one for the team". Um - yeah, right. Thanks, but not with a girl who won't shut the fuck up & quit talking about relationships. I told her I had to get breakfast and I walked out of there - without the girl.
- meeting the marketing director for Adam & Eve Pictures.
- went to Vanity. Thank you to Brandon Grady (formerly of Pure Management) for hooking it up. The only downside to the club was we we had our table. It was alright until...a table of like 12 guys and 1 girl sat beside us. On top of that, they were ALL Asian (I'm Asian, so I'm going to say it). It was not fun at all. The crowd on the dance floor was very goodlooking and seemed to be enjoying themselves (similar to Body English - one of my most favourite clubs in the world, nevermind Las Vegas).
February 2010
- Superbowl weekend.
- W.O.C. (World of Concrete). This was my 3rd time to go since one of my friend's is in the concrete pumping business. Amazingly, there's more people to this than the AVNs. I think the only events that beat it out are CES and possibly another one. Even though W.O.C. is packed with a lot of guys, it ends up working out in our favour because most of the guys are old.
- I can't really remember what clubs we went to. I "think" we went to LAX...
May 2010
My TR week and AOD 2010.
This was definitely a lot of fun for me. I love going in the summer since it's beach weather.
But, more so, it was a week to get away as I'd been having a stressful time personally and professionally.
It was by chance that I booked at the same time as AOD. I'm not going to go much into the AOD weekend, except to say it was great to finally meet some of the people from the board. The Bank was amazing. I'd only been there once before on an off night. I'd been there when there was Light, but I didn't have much fun.
I spent a lot of time at Wet Republic. For those that get the chance, stay at the MGM Signature Suites. During the week I went, I got into W.R. for free showing an owner card. Staying at Signature Suites also gains you access to the Signature Suites pools.
I did table service only once this trip. Because of it, I had to pick a spot everyone wanted. So, I picked Pure on the Tuesday. Thank you to Brandon Ring, he placed us at a table in the main room. Some people say Pure has had it's day, but I think it is still a great place to go to, especially for a Tuesday and for people that have never been to Las Vegas (which isn't most of the people on this forum). The only downside to the night was having to deal with a dickhead in our group who was complaining about where we got placed. He kept going off about how we paid so-and-so money and that we should be getting a table by the DJ. Because of it, I just lost it and it ruined my night.
Some advice to anyone that organizes groups for fun - don't take shit from anyone. If you're organizing a table and someone starts complaining, give them the option of shutting the fuck up or telling them to leave.
The rest of the week was pretty much spent at Carnival Court since most of the guys I went with are cheap bastards.
June 2010
this was my first one nighter or as I call it - a one hitter quitter. I've never gone down for a night (and it was literally 22 hours in Vegas from departure at the airport to arrival back home.
What I do remember is:
- staying at Mirage and drinking massive 24.00 G&Ts
- meeting a model and her friend, who happened to be the sister of Summer Altice.
But, I went there mainly to help a friend organize a bachelor party for his friend. Knowing my friend, he wanted the group to go to LAX. So, I knew this group of guys weren't the Vegas types, but I had to stop it when he got a bunch of licorice out for the guys to do stuff with girls (I don't know how to describe it except it was really cheesy).
A couple things helped out though: 2 of his 9 friends didn't drink and even by 2 am, there were still almost one of two bottles untouched (more for me!). The other thing was we were by the dance floor, so it was a great view.
I had to blow the joint when I knew my reputation was damaged for the night (licorice, ladies?). I ended up going to Vanity, then heading to Rumor for afterhours.
I don't know if I could do a one-nighter again. I probably will, but it was really harsh on my system.
Sorry for the shitty trip reports. Honestly, when I go down,
I tend to hit up my favourite spots:
Vanity, Tryst, LAX, Pure, Carnival Court and Pure. I've also gone to Jet and the Bank. I'm not a big fan of XS. I still have to go to Surrender and LAVO.
The next time I go is for my birthday and to run the Las Vegas 1/2. I'll try to write a more in-depth report.
