Drais After Hours....

Ive been going to Vegas for years with my crew of guys from Chicago and we ALWAYS get table service at Drais (Bills Gamblin' Hall, old Barbary Coast) to listen to some fantastic House music. Being from Chicago and a DJ myself, i appreciate great music and it seems to me that Drais has been consistently the ONLY spot in Vegas to go listen to and dance to truly good underground (no pun intended) progressive, electro, trance House music.

Drais is also traditionally known for its unbiased and unopinionated and non-judgemental top notch service. whatever your frame of mind or whatever influence your mind is under while partying at Drais, they always seem to watch out for your best interest, and that is truly appreciated.

So herein lies my question.....lately (last 3 yrs or so) it seems that despite Drais still being the top Afterhours spot on the strip, its just not as crowded any longer. Is it just me? or are folks going to some other afterhours spot that i just dont know about yet? keeping in mind that i dont care to listen to any commercial top 40 dance crap or hiphop (not that i dont like hip hop, but thats not what im looking for in an afterhours spot).....and the level of attention and service that comes with your experience at Drais....

can anyone help a brotha out and clue me in!!??

I was at Drais, both Thurs and Fri of last week and it seemed ok. Thursday's crowd was a little unique, but Friday was good. It was pretty packed as well.

I know some of the guys on the most recent AOD halloween invasion went to Vanity for after hours and from what I know, its a pretty top notch for after hours. Maybe they can give you some feed back.

A club is only as good as the hosts that book for it. If you were at Drais between april and end of summer, then you went to drais with out christian hicks (who was hosting after hours at Gold). If you went to drais after LDW, then you went to drais when the XS/Tryst hosts stopped booking and having sales requirements. These small details will effect the crowd capacity and give the impression that the club is slower. IMO its better, drais can get very packed and very hot due to over crowding, so a bit of breathing room is nice.

Thanks for that info Darryll, that makes sense. Yeah this past year we were there mid-May. We met Marc Snanoudj who i think was the GM there, he definitely hooked us up that night and took care of us...I do gotta say that the extra breathing room was nice, but i was just temporarilly concerned as some of my guys were too in thinking that perhaps we were missing out on some other newer Drais-esque like spot. In your opinion, or anyone elses, what other clubs, afterhours or otherwise, play that kinda house music?

I like Drais, but I've never stayed there for more than an hour or so. Definitely want to go back tho.

We always go Saturday nights, but they're open Thursday's & Friday's also i believe. We never wait in line cuz we always reserve a table, plus we get there around 2am when the lines havent quite formed yet (thats about 3-4am) and we dont leave till 9am'ish (bring yo sunglasses! you'll thank me when you walk out of Bills and that bright ass sun is kickin your ass! LOL!)
Im sure NewYears Eve at Drais will be a blast, let us know how it was when you return....

What are the prices like there for BS?

I believe our bill for 5 guys last year was $600 or so. that included 1 bottle of Grey Goose, several beers, even MORE bottles of Fiji water (you will need a lot) very hot in there when its packed, plus if your rollin you will obviously be drinking lots of agua! anyways, that included tip as well....if memory serves i think i gave her $100, so the bill was around 5 bills...again, we arent really drinkers we like to roll instead so we only had the one bottle of vodka and a couple beers.

dont know what kind of music you prefer, but they have a hip hop room also, we prefer the house music side. Its very progressive, none of that typical club top 40 type crap where you hear the same songs every hour. i cannot comment on the hip hop room as we've never ventured in there.
