Guys Trip - February

Hi all, new to this board, I'm sure I'll be made welcome I'm looking for some help to planning a guys trip to Vegas. We are all from Scotland and planning to be in Vegas for my friends 40th, from 10th Feb for 5 nights. Looking for best value, but still decent and good location with decent bar with reasonable prices, or within walking distance. Recommendations of where to stay, deals, things we must do all welcome!

My best advise for finding deals on flights and hotels is to keep an eye on expedia (or similar sites), Expedia currently has an offer of 20-30% off MGM owned properties, some Harrah's owned properties are stay 5 nights and save etc.
So far i've stayed at Excalibur and Flamingo, but I only use the hotel to store my suitcase, have a power nap and a shower.
Excalibur is cheap and cheerful, and a tad out of the way (but over the road from MGM Grand and NY NY), but over the years we've bagged a bargain when booking.
In Flamingo we had a GO room, and that was a nice room from what I saw of it, and in a great location being centre strip.
Both had OK bars in the casino, and reasonably priced (at the time), but we were within walking distance from other Casinos with better bars.

All in all, work out a budget and keep an eye out for offers on your flights & accomodation, and for bars, everywhere is a short walk or cab ride from a better bar than the last.

I'm thinking either Harrahs, Ballys or Flamingo which are all around the same price. Which one should I choose, which one are we likely to get an upgrade with using the 20 dollar trick, which ones have the best bars for partying

3 nights for $90 looks great, however when i try and price it, it comes up as $495 for the 5 nights I'm probably being stupid....

nah, no joy, seems its only on certain dates and not at the weekend. I'm looking at 10th Feb for 5 nights

I find you get the best deals if you sign up for the hotels email list - you almost automatically get awesome introductory rates sent to you! It's a pain cause you get multiple emails a day but it's worth it once you find a wicked deal! Then once you've booked just unsubscribe!

The hotel list is good but I found the 30% off specials even better. I've compared them side by side and the current 30% off specials beat their hot deals, which are usually the best.

I've found some good success with bookit.com for my trips. For example, PH Towers 1 Bdroom suite for $190/night for super bowl weekend (my next trip still in planning stages)

cheers warren, will keep an eye on that. Cant wait for this trip, my mate and brother haven't got a clue its happening and wont find out till January. Also got my other brother meeting us in Vegas from South Korea, which will be another surprise for the 2 of them. Roll on Feb!
