It looks like Hard Rock Cafe International Inc. wants the name "Hard Rock" OFF the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas, and they are suing to get it done. Their case seems pretty strong especially since HRH has never actually "owned" the name. Even in Peter Morton's day, legally it has always been a licence agreement between the owner of the property in Las Vegas and the corporation that owns the Cafe trademarks.

While a name is just a name, and the character of the property wouldn't necessarily change, so much has been invested in marketing and branding the property as "Hard Rock" over the past 15 years, it would be a huge deal for the owners if they have to change it now.
