Your going to have a great time, if you create and follow a happy mindset.
As for the host nonsense, we are the ones who are getting catered to not the other way around, I agree remain generous, tip well- but under no circumstance feel like you owe these people anything, ask as many questions as you like, ask to see every possible seating sequence: ask questions all day. They are the ones that are supposed to apply a "service" to you the customer. My Las Vegas nightlife host opinion, is for another thread. But have a great time buddy: and ask questions, whether it be from other locals or people on the forum!

This is what I would, I would get the room at the PH, go to the clubs only 2nights, 1 night I would check out the free shows at the TI, the fountains, go to Freemont street. There is plenty to do there at night.

I gotta give you props for being on a budget....last time I tried doing that (budget was $1k) I nearly quadrupuled it and that was for 2nt 3day trip.....LOL....but it was Vegas and I had a blast.
I LOL'ed hard at this point. I know the feeling.

I tried this incredibly lame but semi effective budgeting tool my last vegas trip (Friday-Tuesday). I put 400 dollars in an envelope for Friday to Sunday of my trip. Had a float of 500 cash in my wallet. This lasted me until the last day Monday when my friends and I lost everything on high paying slot machines and dirty blackjack.

I'd try it again. If you aren't gambling much splitting bottles with a group of 6 to 8 and eat cheap a 200-300 dollar budget a day for spending is manageable. Takes disciple though....

I thought I was on "Final Destination something" when I got on one of the elevators at Luxor. Wouldn't stay there

Has anyone suggested calling hotels directly and asking for a 10/15 % discount via CAA or AAA and getting the resort fees waived. They'll do this is you acknowledge you won't be using the hotel much. Dollar saved on hotel/flight is a dollar earned for more measurable areas of fun in Vegas!
