Any of you ever been to Atlantis in the Bahamas?

I know this is a Vegas board, but I also know I can get good info from you guys/gals.

I'm going to Atlantis for the first time at the end of the month. We are staying at the Cove and have a cabana at the Cain Pool each day and plan to get bottle service each night at Aura. Apparently Aura is a Pure Management Group venue and Cain is a "Vegas Style" pool with a DJ, etc...

Any advice, tips, etc...?

I went in 2001, at the time it was amazing, deff high end, celebrities, big headliner concerts , awesome food and bars. The water was rough cause we went in October. Never left the property. Downtown Nassau just seemed like a hole.

Thanks. It looks like the property overall is enormous. My buddy I'm going with is liable to gamble 200k+ while he's there and is a regular, so we should get taken care of pretty well. I'd rather be going to Vegas, but it's hard to beat the short/cheap flight from S.C. and my buddy swears it will be a great trip.

I just like to have a good idea of what I'm getting into before I arrive somewhere. I still remember the first time I went to Vegas. I didn't understand how things worked and standing in line everywhere we went SUCKED...haha.

Atlantis is sick. Cove is on par with any chic vegas hotel. The only complaint I ever hear about it is cost, but rolling with your boy will take care of that. You literally don't have to nor will you want to venture away from the resort for anything. Enjoy!!

I stayed on Paradise Island for a bachelor party last year and spent a lot of time over at Atlantis. The lobby/grounds/ and some of the rooms I saw were all top notch but I didn't think there was anything beyond the quality of some of the newer vegas hotels.

Obviously, the hotel is awe inspiring from the outside and the water park area is pretty cool. Make sure you check out the aquarium near the lobby. They have a stingray in there the size of a car swimming around -- it's pretty incredible.

As for the club, we had a table on the dance floor and had a good time. There were a bunch of NFL players sitting next to us but I didn't see any celebs. The club decor and music is nothing out of the ordinary -- top 40, hip-hop, house mashups. Most of the girls we met were either from Jersey or Toronto and the ages were very mixed.

Somebody mentioned downtown Nassau. I can't comment much beyond that it's a dump. We got duped into going to this club there and it happened to be Bohemian independence day. There was a huge parade going outside and no taxis. We were the only 5 white people in the entire town ; ) Some guy pulled up next to us in a truck and we gave him 40 bucks to drive us back to Paradise Island.

Yeah, it's pretty crazy watching him play blackjack. He'll play 4-5 hands at a time with crazy money on the line. He's won over 200k in the past and lost that much at times as well. Over time, though, he's won more than he's lost at Atlantis.

Downtown Nassau is pretty much a dump as is any city in Caribbean. We were on a cruise in '08 and this was our first port of call. Typically Caribbean markets and whatnot once you get off the boat with the locals selling knock-off watches, purses, wallets, etc. We made our way to the beach by Atlantis for the day. Pretty good scene for November from what I recall. We strolled through the grounds of the hotel and casino on our way back to the boat. My buddy hit it pretty big on roulette with one play on a single number. The casino seemed dead but the people that were playing had a ton of chips in front of them. The boat docks in the back of the resort were filled with some sizable yachts from Florida as it would be an easy cruise on over to the island for experienced boat captains. Have fun.
