Friday 9/10:
Wife (Rachel - 1st time in LV) and I arrived on Friday around 6:30pm and decided to rent a limo from the Airport. Stopped at a liquor store and stocked up on alcohol then on to the Flamingo where I had 4 nights free (thank you Total Rewards). Settled in, then on to Tao Bistro for an excellent dinner. Got the hand stamp so we could get in to Tao later, then walked the strip back to the hotel (wife’s looked in awe of the whole thing). Relaxed for a bit then back to Tao where we walked past the lines and into the club (many points with the wife, thanks to JC for the hand stamp hint).

Tao was packed – music was great so we danced and drank for a hours. Left the club around 2:30am (5:30am on the east coast) then back to the Flamingo. Turned off all the lights and opened the blinds all the way because we had a view of Caesars Palace…it was a good night.

Saturday 9/11: Managed to wake up, eat and get to Tao Beach to meet some AOD members. Royale had secured a table by the small pool. Met Jonny B, Moezilla, Royale, Oregon Rebel, Luckythirteen, Amanda and their companions. Great group of people to party with...that along with an Ohio State victory over Miami made a good time. TB was hoppin, beautiful day, good music, lots of girls in the pool, oh and the RockStar tattoo (nicely done). Late in the day Royale wrangled a move to a daybed by the main pool (something about a daybed that makes women want to dance on it – there were no complaints). Several wives took a couple free drink runs to the cabanas. It was great getting to know everyone. Oh, and Jonny B really is that much fun to hang with.

Bought Rachel some sandals in the Venetian shops since someone walked off with her flip flops at TB had some pizza in the food court then went home for a nap. Up and dressed for Tryst that night. Rachel wore an incredible gold sequin mini dress (go Rachel). Some of the AOD folks had a table but we got there later. Waited in a huge line – the wife was freaking about the line – but we were on the guestlist. Texted the host who gave me some names of people in the front – flagged down Natalia mentioned the guestlist and we were beyond the ropes and walking by the line. (thank you JC.com – been married a while so it takes a little to impress the wife – mission accomplished)

Rachel couldn’t believe that Tryst was even more impressive than Tao. Walked and danced a bit then found the AOD folks and their table. We drank, the girls danced on a wall over the dance floor, made friends with the bachelorette party (girls totally hammered) and a nice Mexican couple (wife looked like Isla Fisher). Partied with the AOD till about 3:45 then cab to Flamingo and fall into bed.

Sunday 9/12: Again managed to make it up, eat and take the monorail to the MGM and Wet Republic. Royale had a daybed set up in the middle pool. It had a lot more room than Tao Beach and the music was just awesome the whole day. Drank, partied, in the pool, checking out crazy muscle dude with the tiny head, chatting with the Scottish guys next to us about what so “foookin amaaazing” about America, free beer from Dos Equis, dancing, lounging and surviving Royale’s bartending

Relaxed a bit before heading to XS and the night time pool party. Royale and Darryl managed to get a daybed by the pool. Looked like only about 20-30 people actually knew it was a pool party so the pool was wide open…couple girls figured their bra and thong was close enough to a swimsuit (we agreed) and jumped in. More great music, hanging with Royale, LMD, Darryll, Amanda and a few others. Couple members of the group didn’t make to XS (Royale’s bartending) I turned 40 at midnight had a shot and chilled in the pool and hottub and hung with the AOD.

Left XS around 2:30am then met up with Oregon Rebel (back from the dead)and his wife (nice dress BTW) and went to the Peppermill Fireside Lounge for something to eat had hung out till about 6am. Rachel called my daughters school from the strip waiting the bus at 6am (9am est) to let them know about the library book chewed up by the dog. Hotel. Sleep.

Monday 9/13: Weird/Scarry day.
Walked around a bit, saw Planet Hollywood and shopped for souvenirs. Then ended up on the north end of the strip where I got my first tattoo at Rock Star Tattoo (near the Peppermill). Had dinner at Margaritaville with my cousin Jenn (Vegas native) and her husband.

Packed a little after dinner then went to Carmel at the Bellagio. We had one drink each and hung out to watch a little football and relax. Then walked to watch the fountains. <Night turns weird from there> Rachel starts acting really drunk while waiting for the fountains. By the time they are done I have to guide her to the room where she is pretty well gone. About an hour later she pops back up and said she was hallucinating. With only one drink, either she had a very strange reaction to something in the drink or it was spiked with something. She couldn’t sleep after that and her pulse was racing so we walked a bit. (Stopped to play a slot machine and won $150) Then went back to the room around 1:30 to sleep for a couple hours so we could get to the airport at 4:30am. Flew Home

Other than the Monday night thing it was one of the best weekends ever.

Thanks to all the AOD folks for making it memorable. We can't wait to get back there again.

Honestly, if you're not used to drinking ludicrous amounts of alcohol, especially in succession, the dehydration and strain on the body can cause hallucinations. I've seen this happen.

Im glad you survived "Royale's bartending". Us indians call those drinks "desi" style for future reference. Full cup of alcohol with ice, add enough mix just for the coloring. Hand it to your friend and tell them enjoy!

First of all I just want to thank everyone on this site that helped me to plan this long overdue trip for me and the husband. All the advice was greatly appreciated and I can’t wait for the next trip!


Wednesday
Headed out for our flight around 6AM. Got to the airport, ate some Burger King and literally counted the minutes until we boarded. Flight was pretty quick considering we were technically coming from overseas (Hawaii).


What the hell are those circle things btw?

Arrived before 5PM and took a taxi to the Wynn. Rate was just over $20, not bad. Checked in, didn’t use the sandwich trick, actually totally forgot about it, but we ended up on the 29th floor with a great view of the strip.



Cleaned up a bit and headed down to the casino floor to explore and figure out where to grab a bite. Got lost in the hotel eventually found the restaurant Wazuzu, which I think was in Encore. Did the Taste of Wynn menu and it was great! Had a few beers and we were on our way to head up to the room and shower and get ready for the evening.

Got downstairs and hit up Blush. We had randomly gotten on a guestlist earlier in the day, so we walked on in and hung out on the patio which was really beautiful and intimate. Definitely a chill place, good vibe. Had a few drinks then headed out to the strip to explore.

Ended up at Lavo. Got in easy and hung out at the downstairs bar a bit before heading upstairs. They were playing some fun random old school hiphop when we first arrived and soon after had a Betsy Johnson fashion show, who knew? Was interesting but didn’t have the energy that I expected. Had a few more drinks, danced a little, and decided it was time to get back to the room for some uh other “fun”. The action back in the room was better than at the club.

Thursday
Woke up, thankfully not too hungover and hit the gym. Yes, I know, the gym. I honestly didn’t think that the Wynn beds were really all that comfortable. They were okay. I have always been partial to the Westin beds, but whatever. So I couldn’t even really sleep in all that long anyways. The gym was decent, pretty much what I expected. After the gym we hit the lunch buffet at the hotel, which I thought was exceptional. Went up to the room, got into our suits and went down to the pool for a few hours. Amazing pool! Great people-watching. Lots of good-looking people as well as some who forgot to look in the mirror before they left their rooms. Always interesting. Enjoyed an $18 pina colada, tasty and totally worth it. “Just charge it to the room”



Hung out at the pool for a couple hours then went upstairs showered, had some “fun” and hit the strip. Walked a ton, went in a ton of casinos. Drank throughout, saw the Bellagio fountains and other such attractions.



Grabbed some lunch/dinner at the Grand Lux Café (recommended here, thanks!) and had the most amazing burger/sandwich thing. It was on this cheese bread and was delish. The portion was huge and I actually upset that I couldn’t bring it back with me, that’s how good it was. And the price was right on. Headed back to the Wynn to gamble a bit and then get ready for our night out at Vanity.

Met up with Gary (AKA Royale) and Amanda at the center bar at HRH. Downed a couple drinks and made our way over to Vanity. Royale had a major hookup here and got the four of us in in no time. We were actually the first people through the door and over to the hour long open bar. We attempted to down as many Skys as we could in this time, Gary being partial to “Sky and a little ice”. I’ll take mine with Sprite thankyou! (Gary doesn’t mess around btw)



The drinks were starting to kick in, some more than others, (ahem Amanda). Found myself in a men’s room stall peeing thinking that the restrooms were of the coed variety (don’t ask me why, blonde moment) until I started to hear ONLY male voices outside my stall. Oh, shit, and I was still pretty sober at this point. Snuck outta there, many odd looks and smiles from the guys thinking that a guy was going to walk out after me… had a laugh…classic. Met Darryl briefly, danced, was a great time but soon started to get hungry maybe 2AM?? and we headed out. The rest of the night is kinda fuzzy for me. Good times. More fun back at the room. Great Night!

Friday
Woke up kinda groggy, not too bad. Got breakfast at the buffet again, hit the pool for a few hours and let the sun revive us. No gym today! Got changed and headed out for some drinks and our dinner reservation at Fleur de Lys (now closed for renovations). Got a few drinks across the restaurant at China Grill before dinner. Great bartender. Used the restaurants.com $50 gift certificate towards our 4 course meal. Our final bill came to like $220 with tip. Excellent.



Martini Flight at Fleur

Got tickets for Zumanity for like $50 each through the Summer of Cirque promo, had balcony seats. Show was great, was my first so I have nothing to compare it to. We then headed over to Mix lounge to check out the view, got there early so in for free right before a line started.



Loved the music, got a nice seat and chilled for a bit. Rolled back to the Wynn, more fun, crashed.


Saturday
Woke up and hit the buffet one more time (it’s just too easy). Got a late checkout so we hit the pool. Was a lot more crowded now that it was the weekend but still got a good spot. Lounged around a bit, napped then headed back up to the room to shower and get packed. Checked out, put our bags with the valet for the day. Hit the strip, checked out a few of the casinos we hadn’t already, got lunch at Burger Bar, (Mandalay?) got an amazing pear cider, with equally amazing custom burgers. (note to self: do not weigh self anytime soon) Walked around a bit more, bought some tee shirts for the kiddos.

Headed downtown to check out the “vintage” side of Vegas. Saw the light show and all that,





Drank, gambled a bit, drank (love those $2 coronas!) and headed back to the Wynn about midnight to get our bags and cab to the hotel. 2:45AM flight back to Honolulu. Amazing trip!

Can’t wait to do it again and meet even more AOD “locals”.
