It's crazy at the moment. You need something to check if new members are bots or humans.

    Like that.

Adding captcha for new member sign up is a great idea. Maybe JC will find a way to implement this.

CAPTCHA sucks...you need to make it where it asks you a question like...

"What is the first letter of the alphabet?" in conjunction with CAPTCHA during sign up.

Then maybe limit new users to a specific forum until 10 posts or something.

hahaha, captcha, along with a math problem should be added, as some programs can automatically solve captcha's which is why some forums also ask a random match problem.

Shouldn't be too hard for JC to add, as I know the scripts are out there to integrate into forums.

Better idea, they have to be approved by an admin first, and to be approved they have to make a post introducing themselves. Should make it pretty easy to tell who's a spammer and who isn't.

Doubt that will happen. By doing so it creates extra hurdles for new users to join.

The more popular the site gets, the more spam will follow, unfortunately. I know when I'm up in the mornings before work, I always seem to find spam threads. Most of the mods are on Pacific time.
