    hi there

vegas newbie hitting the main clubs tao, tryst, vanity, pure etc next month

i could really do with some advice re tipping.

ive used the contacts on here to book a table for me and my 5 friends - we're doing the 2 bottle min. at most.

    a) for the clubs that slap on 20% auto grat...is there any extra tipping required? or do they split that 20 how they feel between host, waitress etc...

    b) for those that have said tip at discretion how much are we talking for the host who has reserved table? (assuming this is the person standing with clipboard outside club and shows u to table), own cocktail waitress? whats a bus boy?!!

who else is there to take into consideration? bouncer....

all for tipping the people who help us but don't want to get ripped off either sure u can appreciate!!

I thought most clubs include the 20% automatically.... anyways
that 20% is just for the waistress.
Host tip- handshake before or after he walks you to your table, minimum $100, more if he helps you out, could even be in the thousands if say you want a top location inside XS on a a busy night.
I generally tip the security guy a $20 and the runner $20 as well.

bottle service normally 20% if it's not already included.

The security guy and busser I normally give 5-10 throughout the night depending on how often I see them. Usually quite a bit.

I usually give the host 10-20 per person in my party.

Most have said 20% auto grat just a few not said any figure.

Ok cool so 10-20 pp sounds fine for the host.
        20 for bouncer fine
How much for your own waitress?
        And what's a runner?

Assuming the place does charge auto grat however, would u really tip the above? 20% of $1000 sure seems fair enouugh a tip in itself

A runner is the guy (i have never seen a girl runner) that's gets you your cups, juices, fruit garnishes, and cleans your table.

I usually tip the waitress the minimum auto 20% gratuity and during the night if she's does a good job and checks on us often then I hand her cash throughout the night.

IMO if you just hand them a lump sum for gratuity it's their choice if they want to do a good job by checking up on you, but if you hand them a little bit at a time they will have to work for it. If I see the security, runner, or waitress really paying attention to our table I just keep handing them money throughout the night.

Last time my friend tipped our security so much that he got escorted almost everywhere. He also got escorted to the front of the bathroom line.

That's another thing. Whenever I need to go to the bathroom. I always ask our runner or security guy if they can get me to the front of the line (if it's busy) I just tip them for it.
