what is going on oct 8-10??

I'm going to be in vegas from oct 8 to 10 and am noticing that hotel rooms are much more expensive ($400/night at palazzo) vs. the weekends before and after (~$260/night). Anyone know why this is the case? Is there a fight or event going on?

there's a convention at Sands Expo/Convention center with about 14,000 expected to attend!

Weekend after is worse... there's a 22K convention at the LV convention center.

I was curious, so I googled the dates....all I got was a water innovations convention, anti-aging convention, and some world championship of paintball advertised as being held "on the strip". None of which seem worthy of driving room prices through the roof. Clearly I'm missing something.

There's like 70,000 hotel rooms on the strip. Even 25,000 conventioneers over the weekend shouldn't be enough to raise prices like that during what is a slow time.

I'm going to be out there that weekend with a large group and we've been trying to figure out what the heck is going on as well.

Yeh Essain is right...This is apparently the weekend where a bunch of people get married 101010....Ill be there for my sisters wedding, and have another friend thats get married here the same weekend.
