First off, a huge thank you to everyone here who helped me out, even up until and through my trip!!
Arrived late on Thursday with just one friend of mine, checked into Mirage, got a money room right away. Decided to utilize the free admission for hotel guests to Jet for a couple of drinks before the rest of the crew rolled through. Was only there for a half hour or so but was the typical jet/lg scene. After everyone else arrived, we wanted to keep it low key, so we just went across the street to Carnival Court at Harrahs...which I still maintain is a very good choice if you're looking for something lower key, outside, with an eccentric crowd, lol. Stayed there for a bit, enjoyed the new gogo dancers they have, and then crashed somewhat early for the evening, if 3ish is early, lol.
Woke up on Friday for Tao Beach, which was what I had been looking most forward to the entire time and it DID NOT disappoint!! Had spoken with Marklen for quite some time beforehand and he set us up real nicely with the corner bed, which is essentially 2 very big couches in the corner of the pool, next to the grand cabana. Talk about location!!! It was amazing...constant traffic all the time thanks to the pool, but not annoying traffic. Waitresses were great, took care of us the whole day. Got 10 free drink tickets for shots of patron. Danny Lee sat us and was awesome the whole day. Brought over his friend, who was the vip manager of the Rhino, who hooked us up and also brought some of his girls over for a while. Overall, an absolutely awesome time...the only regret I have is that I didn't meet Marklen. Not sure if I just missed him, or if he wasn't there, or what, but I definitely would have liked to, to thank him.
Friday night, we did dinner at Tao, which was great, other than the fact that they kept us waiting for about 30-40 minutes for our table. Apparently, they had another group of 8 right before us, so they had to wait for some of the other larger tables to open up. They did the right thing though and gave us a round on them in the lounge while we waited, so that was tight. Dinner itself was fantastic. If you've been to Tao in NY, it's the same deal. Great food, great atmosphere, etc. We got the stamps for the club as well and it's nice that you don't even have to leave the area to go up to the club.
Unfortunately, we had already purchased the vegas.com wristbands, so we had to get them even though we got the club stamps already. This seemed like a little more of a clusterf... than what I had read and anticipated. Luckily, I had asked people beforehand while we were waiting for our dinner res what the process was and they told me what the deal was. I also asked Danny at Tao Beach earlier in the day and he told me to speak to Robert Conner, so I knew who to find. Long and short of it...tons of people had emails for the wristbands, to the point where it was a pretty significant line. I personally saw all of the security and what not lead them all to this one line which was for the wristbands. Instead of that, I sought out Robert Conner who brought us to the side for about 15 seconds, and then took us right back into the front of the restaurant/lounge to the register where you get the wristbands. So I don't know if it was because I knew to speak to him personally or what, but it was nice not having to wait more than literally one minute for any of that.
Now for Tao itself. Eh. I'd been there a few times before, had open bar thanks to a private party once, gone regularly another time. Always had a decent time, but nothing ever spectacular. I wanted to give it a shot this time because it was easy with the wristbands/dinner stamps for 7 guys to get in somewhere. But I have to be honest...my entire group was just disappointed in the whole experience. Lots of obnoxious people, music was pretty beat, and just a mess getting in and out. Seriously...one way in and one way out? The one positive was that the drinks were strong. Otherwise, it was my final time at Tao, the club.
After Tao though, a couple of us rolled to Lavo, since we had the wristbands and I had never been. I gotta say...I wasn't expecting much, but Lavo blew me away. LOVED the setup of it, music was real tight (MUCH better than Tao), and the crowd was great. Got right in with the wristbands also, much to the disdain of the others waiting there, lol.
Hung low on Saturday since we didn't wanna get as banged up as we did on Friday during the day. Plus, I kept getting mixed prices from Bare and just got fed up with them.
Saturday night, did bottles at Tryst. Ended up with a table on the patio essentially one table away from the entrance to the inside dancefloor. AWESOME spot...I was leary about the outside area, but it had everything we could have wanted. Great flow of people, great proximity to the dancefloor and the gogo dancers. Overall, just a real good spot. Great service, great server (Jessie). Great time overall.
Overall, it was an awesome weekend and one that I couldn't have planned without the help of this site. So thanks again!!
