  • Couples and the Clubs

My wife and I are coming out this Thursday for a long weekend. We're staying at the J.W. Marriott Resort & Spa.

We've both been to Vegas, but never together, so we're obviously psyched to drop the kids off at Grandmom's and get away.

This past weekend, she tells me that she wants to go to LAX at the Luxor. Sounds good, but I'm checking out info about the club on this site and I get the impression that it's a great place for groups and bachelor/bachelorette parties, but may not be the best place for a random couple to hang out for the night.

So here are my questions: Is LAX a good place for a couple to go hang out?

If not, what is a good recommendation for an upscale club/lounge that is intimate enough for a table for two, yet is trendy, unique, and fun.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

P.S. I did check out the list of clubs suggested at the top of the forum. Just thought I'd take any other suggestions as well. Thx.

First up, welcome to board. LAX is fine for couples but without doing bottle service, don't expect a table or seat. That will be the case at just about all the major clubs on the strip. XS, Vanity, Tryst, Tao & Moon would be a few choices to consider as majors. Lavo & Blush for the second tier. Have a great time.

You're not really going to find "intimate" or seating for 2 at any of the major clubs unless you're forking over $$$ for a table. That being said, I still think the majors will be fun for you and def recommend checking them out. I vote Vanity, tryst, or xs.

my fiance and i go to the clubs all the time just the two of us. we've been to lax and, quite frankly, were a little bored by it. as dj ran said, there are definitely no seats or tables, and the way lax is set up, it's kinda random to just stand around, unless you're on the dance floor. for the bigger clubs, i thoroughly enjoyed tao and tryst just the two of us. smaller places such as blush, mix, even tabu might not be a bad shot either. i've also done the mid-tier clubs plenty of times too as a couple and always had a good time. if you try and work your way over to the bar and plant yourselves there, it can be an even better time that way than being at a table!!

            Excellent advice. Thanks.

Any thoughts on the Ghost Bar?

Ghost Bar would probably be good for you. It's a smaller venue/lounge type with a great outdoor deck area with some pretty cool views. Plus, if you feel like mixing it up, you can bar hop to the other palms clubs (moon, playboy club, rain).

I really like the place. Dunno about seating, but outside on the patio area, you can talk and mingle. Had the most insane, deep connection conversation with a gal I met there the first time I went to Vegas (5!) years ago.

agreed with this. it's a great spot, esepcially if its your first time there. crowd isnt as "trendy" as elsewhere in vegas, but nonetheless, it's still a good time. and a chill atmosphere as well.

Ghost Bar is a great place to pre party but don't think I would spend my entire night there. It's rather small and kinda laid back as well, however if you get there early enough, there is seating on the patio outside. Yes, the view is FANTASTIC!

mix LOUNGE at TheHotel at mandalay has tables for 2 you can get for free with no waiting if you go up between when they open and roughly 8pm. it's a spectacular place, and shouldn't be crowded, but the table is the real star-best views in town?

peppermill's fireside lounge just south of the riviera. google it- it's old school vegas lounge almost as a cliche, but it's legit. intimate and crazy chill.

if risque at paris has vip tables for 2, they have an amazing view of bellagio fountains, you might be able to talk your way into a very low table minimum if you went there early.

the thing that makes vegas better as a couple than a great martini at any local high end lounge is that you're in VEGAS, so we tend to gravitate to places that have a view...since it's just the 2 of us sitting there chatting, the view is what makes the night special.

also like a real tiki bar?: frank's tiki bar is in an edgy part of town, but it's only a 5 minute cab from downtown's fremont street.

voodoo at rio, fontana at bellagio, and rhumbar at mirage might be a nice place for 2.

sorry if any of this is old, haven't been out in 2010 yet ;-I
