So wake up from my post-Wet Republic nap and it's evening time. We decided that we wanted to go to a nice dinner and dress up for it as the official "birthday diner" of the trip. So we wash up, get dressed, and head to Fin, a Chinese restaurant, in our hotel (The Mirage). Good food, gorgeous place.
Now, during the planning stages of the trip, another guy thought it'd be a fun idea to get a stripper to the room for our birthday boy. She calls while we're at dinner, saying she's in the lobby; obviously, we can't discuss this at the table, since it's supposed to be a surprise for the birthday boy. So we spontaneously come up with a cover story about how we have a cigar guy that's in the lobby and my buddy needs to get some top-notch cigars from him. We had to try our best not to laugh out loud at how ridiculous our cover was.
So, set this up... and I'll skip the part about the stripper actually being in the room, but needless to say, the birthday boy was surprised and quite enjoyed it.
Time to pregame! Plan is to head to The Palms tonight and go club-hopping. Since it's our last night of our so-far epic trip in Vegas, I bust out our tried-and-true tradition -- busting out the sharpie and putting hashmarks on our forearms to keep track of how much we drink. Blast the music, pour the drinks, take photos, everything. At one point, we pulled a line out of Tik Tok and literally brushed our teeth with a bottle of Jack. It was kinda gross, to be honest.
Grab a limo from the hotel, just because we can, and head down to Palms to go party. Birthday boy meets a promoter he knows and we walk straight into Ghost Bar, getting past the line.

So I've heard a ton about Ghost Bar, but having never seen it in person, I wasn't prepared at all for what lay ahead -- easily the best view of Vegas I've ever seen in my life, and perhaps one of the best views I've seen everywhere. It was a gorgeous and clear night and being able to overlook the entire city from that high up just made me feel alive and in control. Sadly, I forget to do the LeBron James (take a shot, then toss Splenda in the air like baby powder) from up there. Next time?
So we chill here for a little bit, soak up the view, talk to another group of girls celebrating their friend's birthday, grab some drinks. Since we're all new to The Palms, we decide to jump to Moon/Playboy Club.
Hit up Moon, grab some more Jager Bombs, and hit the dancefloor. Pretty chill venue, though not as crazy as I'd imagined. The view from the floor is pretty cool, though. Drift from here to Playboy Club. Not much to say about this place: it's nicely decorated, but it's too expensive to consider gambling it (plus, no one was even gambling there). I was really surprised that people had bottles here. Who in the world would spend that much money on bottles, only to end up here? So we hang here for a bit, then decide that Rain is probably the best venue...

And right we were. Our promoter gets us in after a five minute wait; feeling bad about this, she gives us all free drinks at the bar. My boys get a Red Bull vodkas to keep themselves plowing through the night. Because I'm an idiot and think I'm invincible in Vegas, I take advantage of the free drinks and get a top shelf AMF.
(Sidenote on the AMF: when I was in Vegas two years ago, the top-shelf AMF was a regular drink for me. We were at Tryst on a Thursday night and ordered these all night. I went to the bar to get another one and somehow, the bartender tried to charge me $65 for one without telling me. That shady bartender got her bartenders to vouch for her and I ended up getting thrown out of the club. Somehow I never learn and continue to take my chances)
Now I've heard that Rain used to be more popular and it's kinda fading, but damn, this place was packed tonight. It's easily one of the more impressive venues I've seen in Vegas (and I've been to all the big ones, except XS). I'm not that into house music, but the venue just had so much energy that I got into it all. The lights, the crowd, the beats, everything about this place was sick.
Drinks in hand, we decide to explore the whole place, upstairs and down. It seriously took us a good half an hour just to walk around and see everything. The view of the dancefloor from upstairs is nothing short of phenomenal. We bump into two girls, I pull out the birthday card (again), so one of them gives us an extended rave show. Having never been to a rave, I found this pretty sick.
When we're downstairs, we lose one of our friends -- he's absurdly drunk and somehow ends up on stage right next to the dj. We can't get up there at all and he's too drunk to understand our texts (one of his responses to a typical "where are you" text was "hey can't talk i'm performinggg"). We're completely smashed at this point, so the remaining three of us have a great time at Rain.
At one point, near the staircase, I discover another dancefloor! It's absolutely huge and we haven't even gone there yet! Man, this club is huge! I point this out to my buddy and he asks why I want to go upstairs. I told him, no, we're going to hit up the other dancefloor. We just need to walk up a couple steps, then back down a couple steps and we're there! As I walk to the other dancefloor to show them, the inevitable happens -- I was looking at a giant mirror. Man, was I drunk!
After the three of us are done with Rain (and I for some reason have a latex glove on my left hand at this point), we gamble for a little bit at the casino while we wait for our limo to take us to Sapphire's. We're about to leave in the limo when our 4th friend comes and finds us. I love it when a plan comes together!

So, as I've mentioned before, I'm really not a fan of strip clubs. But, last year, we went to a shady strip club called Bada Bing that was a borderline brothel, so this time, Sapphire's was a huge upgrade! As far as venues go, it's huge and much nicer than I had imagined. I tip the bouncer to get us seats in front of the stage, one friend passes out. Friends get some drinks; I get water (I had just boot rallied). Chill here for a bit, then head back to the hotel to go drop our passed-out friend off. He was basically blacked out at this point, but he insists on joining us, so we hit the strip, walk around for a bit, see the City Center, then end up at our favourite place -- O'Shea's. Find an awesome $5 table with a great dealer and play along. We were seriously so drunk at this point, we could only handle water for free drinks, but the people at our table were really chill and we all played off each other. Ended up $10 up, which paid quite nicely for my water at Sapphire's.
Finally head back to the room and pass out at 7 AM.
9:30 AM, I hear the birthday boy and he tells me he can't sleep, so he's going to the pool. Completely exhausted, I let him go; then suddenly get a surge of energy, jump out of bed, say "screw it, it's VEGAS", and go with him to the Mirage pool. Just for kicks, we get beers and just lounge at the pool for a while, soaking in the last bit of Vegas we had.
Head back to the casino, grab a Corona from the room, and gamble a little bit here and there. The other friends finally wake up and meet us in the lobby, so we grab some quick food, check out, and hit the road.
Now, we've never really done the drive from Vegas to LA on a Sunday before; it was significantly worse than any of us expected. Seriously, never doing this again. Left around noon, and missed my 7 PM flight due to traffic, which sucked. Somehow, we eventually got back to our homes and just crashed.
Somehow, made it to work the next day, waking up at 4. Have no idea how. Completely unproductive, since all I could do the entire day was look at pictures and smile and remember the past weekend.
Vegas. I miss it.
