October convention/event?

Hey, feel free to move this thread if it isn't in the right place...

Anyways, I'll be in LV Oct 9th-12th. We booked for 12 people, but need to book for 4-5 more people... Problem is, when I look on Expedia (where we all booked), there is not more rooms available... ANYWHERE! Everything is sold out (well, on Expedia anyways), except for a few hotels lost in the desert or very very expensive ones ($2000 for 3 nights, no thanks!).

Anyone knows what's hapenning on that weekend?

I'll keep looking at different websites, but I'm just wondering. This wasn't an issue when we booked, maybe 2 months ago and we paid dirt cheap for our trip... so it seems weird to me.

Well since its Tuesday, you can always check out Hard Rock's twitter tuesday deals. Sometimes those deals can be a steal, other times not so much.

Also try out priceline where you can name your own price. Start your bid very low like $10-$15 and work your way up to see what you can get. Hotwire is another one of those sites as well. Good luck!

There's a couple big conventions [10-20k+] around that time frame [there's plenty of sites that list them, like here or here. HOWEVER, try looking around at FatWallet's travel deal thread here and book with the hotel directly with their deals. Many times they beat out the hotel deal websites and come with some extras.
