  • Best restaurant regardless of cost

    I have a special occasion to dine for and I would like to go to the best restaurant in las vegas. Food, ambiance, everything.


    My research has narrowed it down to Alex, Joel Robuchon and Guy Savoy.

    Alex seems to have the most food for the dollar. Robuchon has a complimentary limo ride and 1 more michelin star. Savoy has nothing that stands out in my research.

    Any opinions on this comparison?

    Once you get to that level the differences in the experience are going to tiny and trivial. Unless you have grown up as a serious connoisseur of gourmet French dining, you likely wouldn't be able to distinguish what the actual differences are between these 3 restaurants anyway. Any given experience at any given restaurant can vary, but all things being equal, there is really no reason to choose one of these over another based on the restaurant experience alone.

    That being said, Wynn is definitely the superior hotel compared to Caesars and MGM Grand. Depending on where you are staying, that may affect your decision as well.

      I've eaten at all three and for my money, Alex gets the nod.
      Joel is a slight step up from Alex in the experience but not in the quality of the food.
      Many people rave about Guy Savoy but in my opinion, it shouldn't even be mentioned along side Alex and Joel.

          A question, does the limo take you back to your hotel if you go to robuchon? Also, at which restaurant is the seating farther apart?

            Seating is not very close together at either Joel or Alex but when I have been there, Joel had fewer people dining.
            I didn't use their limo so I can't help with that one.

              The limo takes you wherever on strip you ask them to go after your dinner

                While I'd personally go a different route than these 3 restaurants, chris' post is spot on. Alex is easily one of the most awesome/balla dining experiences I've ever had in my life in every way possible. I've never been to Joel but a friend who is a massive food snob rates it very highly so I don't think you'd be disappointed at all. Guy was a letdown, massively overhyped imo...

                I'd say Alex then Joel, don't even bother with Guy...

                    every time i go to Vegas i always make time for Lawry's restaurant. Overall its a great dining experience every time we go. This time around Lawry's is having one of those mystery play dinner meal while were in town so were definitely gonna try that out.

                      While Lawry's isn't bad, I definitely wouldn't put it anywhere near the "best restaurants in Vegas" list. In terms of price, atmosphere, quality, and, for lack of a better word, "baller-ness", I'd consider it similar to Morton's.

                      Granted, I haven't been to the Vegas location, but I have been to Lawry's in Chicago and Singapore, and they were pretty similar (except in atmosphere, because the Chicago location is in a beautiful 100+ year old building and the Singapore location is in a modern mall).

                        At Joel Robuchon I've had their 16 course something or other menu and whatever their seasonal menu is also(only summer and holiday - winter, so far). At Guy Savoy worked off their Prixe fixe and Presitge menu. At both places every meal was amazing and the service matched. As for the limo service we were staying at Encore and Rubochon shuttled us back and forth. Caesars nah, ended up just tossing some cash to a limo driver up front.

                        Alex is third only because I've been there once and while it was of exceptional quality it just didn't knock me out like the other two.

                        Two others I'd be on the look for that I really enjoy(not the same "level" as the previous three - Craftsteak and their Waygu Surf & Turf and Batalis restaurant Carnevino was good too.

                            thanks for the advice everyone, I've decided upon Robuchon.

                            Just a quick question to those who have been there, can you order one of everything off the small bread and small desserts cart?

                            Because that seems like a bunch of food.

                            If you can, I of course will. But then my concern is that I don't want to get to stuffed since I'm partying that night. So I will get fewer courses if this is the case.

                              You can can take as much bread as you wish and you can also ask for more bread during your dinner. But remember you can get stuffed very quickly (I guess if you get one from everything you might need to jump to dessert immediately ) I had the $150 menu (amuse+soup+appetizer+main+dessert+dessert cart) and although I couldn't have eaten more should I had had an extra course, I was not overwhelmed....so no troubles with partying

                              Now I don't know if you can take as much as you want from the dessert cart because at that point I was confused by the description of every little piece and also I didn't have a lot of room in my stomach, so I asked the server to choose for me instead
