  • BSM's Crazy Birthday Bash Trip Report

This is just a pre-cursor to the trip report I fully intend to complete after this weekend.

I thought this was going to be somewhat of an easy going weekend, dinner and maybe a club on one night. A low key event. Well, since last weekend, all hell has broken loose and the Vegas itch has hit all in attendance - here's a quick itinerary.

Land Vegas late Thursday night - check-in and head straight to Tao for Worship Thursdays

Friday mid-morning - Wet Republic Cabana, hoping on catching the Runner-Up World Cup match at Wet

Friday afternoon - limo cruises us out to Hoover Dam to take some pictures, I'll probably stay in the car

Friday night - Dinner @ Cut

Friday late night - Table at Tryst (still awaiting confirmation, but contingency plan is Pure)

Saturday morning - Tao Beach Cabana - Pam Anderson Birthday Party

Saturday late afternoon - Gambling? I hope? I seriously can't find time

Saturday night - Dinner @ Carnevino - 240 Day Dry Aged Porterhouse waiting for me

Saturday Late Night - Table on stage at Lavo

Sunday morning - Brunch at Simon @ Palms

Sunday afternoon - Lagassee Stadium Sportsbook for World Cup Final

Sunday late afternoon - Gambling again?

Sunday early evening - Dinner @ Jean George's Steakhouse @ Aria

Sunday night - leave back for MKE, have Monday off to recover

We'll see how well the best-laid plans end up going, but this is gonna be a rough stretch of days for this old man.

Sounds like fun but not sure you'll want to leave Wet Republic for a trip to the damn, especially for the cabana price you'll be paying.

I'm in agreement and really hoping my friends infatuation with seeing Hoover Dam subsides when we get poolside.

It's always great when a vacation starts off even before you get to your destination. Case in point - we board our flight in Milwaukee and are seated next to Miss New Jersey (Katerina) and Miss New York (Lara), on their way out to an event at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. Really nice and friendly. Our flight end up delayed for a while, Miss NJ and I watch Casablanca on the flight out. We get to LV and Miss NJ's and NY's car rental place has already closed (landed around midnight) so they catch a ride with us in our limo - we drop them off at Orleans and then pop over to the Venetian for check-in.

Check-in line is long - we wait about 30 minutes to get to the front of the line, then meet "Jon" - $20 sandwich gets us moved from the out-of-the-way Venizia tower to the Palazzo - great 2 bed room on the 44th floor with an insane view of the strip. We clean up really quick and pop down to Tao for Worship Thursdays. We get walked in quickly by Jess Ragan and it was a blast. No bottle service that night, as we got to Tao around 2am. We stay there for a couple hours and head out - on our way back we hitup the 24 hour bar in the Casino (forgot the name) and play some Craps, work our way up to the room and my buddy orders a pizza to be delivered to the room at 6am.

I catch about 3-4 hours of sleep, we give a call to our handicapper back in Milwaukee for the day's baseball picks and work our way down to Lagassee Stadium Sports Book - we hang there a bit then I hop over to Barney's to get some Cabana clothes. Another part of our group is over at Wet Republic at this time, but we can't bring ourselves to get over there (hindsight, kinda sad). We catch a cab and head north on the strip to Gold & Silver Pawn Shop - my buddy is a big fan of "Pawn Stars" on the History channel so figured we'd drop in. On our way back to the hotel, I get a call from Joel (from down under) - his phone is finally working - I suggest we meet up at Bellagio for a cocktail. We all hop down to Bellagiio and grab a quick bite and Margaritas at the Petrossian Lounge. Joel's a cool kid, we had a lot of laughs. I get a call from Ms NJ asking if we want to go over to the Orleans for dinner - I counter with an offer for them to join us for dinner at Cut @ The Palazzo. Much thanks to the folks at Cut to be so accomodating, our reservation went from 2 to 4 to 8 to 4 to 8 then to 6 and then to 8 finally. We hit the suite and get ready for the evening, pop down to Cut at 8ish - my buddy and I start out with some Moscow Mule's that were awesome. Dinner was exceptional, one of the better steaks I've had in Vegas (still not on par with NYC, Chicago, and, believe it or not, Milwaukee steakhouses but it was very good). Dinner went pretty long as we were really having a good time - we look at the time and it's almost 11, and we gotta check into our table at Tryst!

We hop over to the Wynn and get in touch with Jared Garcia - a fantastic host and great resource. The line at Tryst was huge, but we waited all of 5 seconds before Jared walked us in. Our table was for 4 guys, we got the first table outside right next to the dancefloor - and ended up being a great location as T.O. was seated at the next table over. Tryst was amazing - the drink girls assigned to our table were the hottest pair I've ever had for table service in LV. We befriend a collection of school teachers from L.A. in Vegas for a friends birthday. The night progresses and we decide time to change venue - now a group of 10, 7 ladies and 3 guys. I pop for a limo to take us down to Drai's - after some name confusion (when I got there instead of asking for Dennis, I asked for Dustin, dunno what happened to my brain), eventually we reach Dennis and he gets us down to Drai's. Since Joel (From Down Under) is staying at Bill's, I text him to tell him we're downstairs at Drai's and he pops down. Drai's is awesome, but wasn't what I pictured it to be. Everything was great except this British wanker who was screwing with my group and an old dude who looked like the lead singer from the Goo Goo Dolls sitting at our table at Drai's. Quote of the night to the old dude "Hey, no offense, but get the fuck out of here."

Great night - probably the best collective night I've ever had in Las Vegas. I leave Drai's when the sun was up, got back to the room around 7am.
