  • traveling solo 5/1-5/5: advice wanted

This is my first time (posting, and doing what I am seeking advice on) so please be gentle.

I will be in Las Vegas May 1 through 5. Though I have never been to an "ultra lounge" in any city--thus, nor am I a regular club goer--the places desribed within this website are undeniably alluring, and I want to try one out. I have to stay at Bally's [Yeah, I know: lame], so I believe it might be easiest/most convenient to go across the strip to Caesar's and try Pure. Going by myself, I have a few questions, and I will appreciate any and all advice you have.

What would be the best night to go in terms of ease of entry? I'm guessing Sunday, but please correct me if I am wrong.

Would it be advisable for a solo guy to try "greasing" the doorman? If so, how much? $20? More? Less? Honestly, I think I would be somewhat intimidated by trying this, so if you think it would be advisable please tell me exactly whom I should "grease."

If I decide to wait in line, how early should I arrive? A half-hour early? An hour?

Again, your answers and any and all other advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

      I feel your pain!

      Hey Chris,

You're a brave man going at it alone! I did that a couple years back for an entire month in Europe, but I guess you can't really pull of the whole "do you speak English" thing as a way to meet girls here? haha.

I'd definitely hit up some of the pool parties beforehand though, will be a lot easier to meet people as they tend to be less 'cliqueish.'

Also, at the door, use the fact that you are by yourself to your advantage. Just politely tell the doorman "Hey, I know you're busy, but I'm by myself tonight. If I take care of you, can you let me skip the line?" Might not hurt to have a $20 or so rolled in your hand ready to shake his.

Another option is to just be observant and conversational with other people who are trying to get his attention. You might be able to join with others getting in with a table.

Also, you are more than welcome to join us that Monday at Prive. Hit my e-mail up ([email protected]).

      Best of luck!

      - Colton

theres another member who did the same thing, locate and read through that thread, but as for your ?s; I def think your at an advantage flying solo, like jack said use it to your benefit....next, always take care of the security or hosts whomever helps you out, people always remember this and it will help for future visits. I dont know how good pure is on a sunday, I would do bank, get there at around 9:30 there is a bar right next to the entrance and just talk to someone when then are setting up for opening and you will get in no problem at all, I used to do this when it was light and it always worked like a gem. and by the way you hit the lottery, first time poster and you get an invite to jacks table.....that takes care of monday night. also the most important thing DO NOT be timid, the worst that can happen is they say no.....ask for anything and everything and be agressive about it thats how you can shit done in vegas!!
it's that time again, let's get #28 gentleman....for the boss

I suppose I could pretend to be European and try the "Do you speak French/German, etc.?" thing to meet girls.

The earliest I anticipate being able to return to Vegas is in June; would they really remember then? Just curious.

Thanks for the advice; sounds like a good way to ease into the practice of "greasing" the door guy. You know, baby steps.

Haven't even yet arrived in Vegas and I already hit the jackpot!

As I was reading through other threads I was thinking to myself, "If this really works, why doesn't everyone do it?" But then I started thinking most people must be either women--and, thus, will probably eventually get in anyway or will find a guy to do it for them--or guys in a situation where it wouldn't work, like a group of a half dozen guys or more with no girls. I'm starting to get the impression that, as a solo guy, if I am cool and polite--but assertive and confident--that "working the system" is expected and understood by the door guys and fairly common; am I right?

make it a point to say thanks alot ill be back in town in june ill be sure to look for you. you know make small talk if the oppurtunity presents itself even if its on the way out when things are slower, just tell him you appreciate it, they remember people that take care of them especially on a continual basis
