Went on a last minute trip with the family this friday (07/02/10) and spent a night at the MGM Grand in one of their Grand Tower rooms. The room itself was pretty big. It had two queen beds and a desk and couple chairs. The bathroom was quite large, but you could tell it was old and recently renovated. My only complaint about the room was the TV being an old 25" CRT. I stayed at Mirage last year (owned by MGM) and they had an LCD in the room, so I was expecting to see the same here, but that was not the case.
This hotel is HUGE, but there are signs everywhere that help you navigate your way to your room. They probably have the best blackjack tables on the strip, because they are one of the few hotels in all of Vegas that still play single-deck, 3:2 games, and only require a $15 minimum.
If you can stay here for under $100 a night, then I'd recommend this place, but for anything more than $100/night is just not worth it. You can stay at better places for that amount.
NOTE: I was going to try the $20 sandwich trick, but decided against doing that because I knew they were booked at capacity for the long weekend. I decided to go a different route instead and tried to chat up the girl for a few minutes and asked her nicely for a complementary upgrade. Her response was "I wish I could, but we are COMPLETELY booked for the weekend, but I will try to get you into the nicest room possible."
She ended up getting me into a 17th floor room with a strip view. Part of my group who checked in an hour before me ended up on the 6th floor with a shitty view.
