What do you do after check-out?

I'm a huge fan of the 11:59pm Departure flight - shoots me back to the midwest and I land around 5am - sleep on the plane.

After I get all the bags out of the room, I usually drop them off down at the front desk and hit the Sportsbook for some relaxing wagering, if I do well I'll hit the tables and usually end up giving any winnings from the book back to the dealers. Then, dinner, drinks and perhaps a lounge before transporting back to McCarran and to my semi-normal life.

normally I'm out on the 11 am flight, which is perfect. Time to rest up after a late one at the centerbar - but not so you have hang around or check out early.
This time the bus was at 2.45pm and to be honest it was sucky wandering around with a huge hangover and not really feeling the need to drink more, just wanting bed
Will stick with the early departures, or book the room for one more night I think, so I can have a decent lie in.

late check out is great and all, but I'm more interested in what people do on their last day outside of their hotel room.

if it's warm, hang out at the pool and drink and shop..
on my last two trips, hung out at bare right till the last minute, and for my recent trip, hung out at the casino.
If I don't have much time, I just gamble, and keep my luggage with me if it's not too much, cause I don't want to go through the hassle of getting it back..
generally I try to remain on the strip cause I'm scared I might miss my flight.

I definitely try to keep my room for late checkout.. I'd rather have my luggage in my room, with the option to shower, get changed, etc, then have it with the bellman where I will have to wait for it, and run the risk of them not being able to find it, etc.

usually they have a rate for late check out at 5 or 6 pm.
If you gamble, and you are using your player's card, ask them about a late checkout.. if you gamble a lot, they will let you check out later.
And when I call the night before to ask for it, I ask for 2pm instead of just asking for a late checkout, cause I think most hotels will grant one hour which will only get you to 12 or 1..

I don't know if you would call this lucky but usually I have some kind of weird issue, so I use that issue for a late checkout.. weird issue like, the fire alarm went off at six in the morning, or the sound of the elevators is so loud that I didn't get sleep. Or when I checked in, I couldn't get my room for two hours despite the fact that I shoulda been able to check in at three.

i always take the latest flight i can so i don't feel stressed in getting to the airport early after a late night, and because i never want to go back to my real life. so i'll usually ask for the late checkout, sleep and just relax till then (hopefully i've packed the day/night before) and then go get something really good to eat - since i'm usually in the mirage, 9 times out of 10 i'm at joe's prime rib and stone crab or the palm in the forum shops. then i either do some last minute shopping or spend the rest of the time at the tables drinking as much as possible and trying not to lose my money. bags are left at the bell desk, never had an issue picking them back up and jumping in a cab for the airport.

never thought about paying for 5p-6p checkout or just paying the extra night, i'll have to try that so i CAN hit the pool my last day. cuz i'm definitely not doing that unless there's a shower involved afterwards

Well for me since I m commuting, it all depends on traffic. On non-holiday weekend invasions, I tend to get out of town ASAP. I might stop and have a lunch, but sometimes not even that. On holiday weekends, I try to stall as much time as possible waiting for traffic to die down. The hotels are very generous about letting you use their pools on getaway days. So I would just spend my time there relaxing and getting some extra sleep.

I agree... I either hit the road back to LA before 10AM or I don't leave until after 7PM, traffic just isn't worth it.

Do a late check out, check your bags, hit the pool and relax.

It seems like it'd be a totally different dynamic for people that drive from Cali. Although the drive may take about as long as most domestic flights, Vegas probably feels a little more accessible just by the fact that you can pretty much hop in your car whenever you feel.

Since I'm like the majority rest of the people who have to catch the flight back home, I'd probably want to take as much advantage of my less-than-often Vegas time. Either that or prepare myself mentally for reality back home, so I don't go through major withdrawl from my Vegas-high.

Yep I agree with you there. The whole wearing the swim trunks leaving the house and just jumping in the pool at the pool party does have its advantages. (Like if your room isn't ready, you still got things to do)
