  • Flights (when to book etc) HELP!

Last year was my first trip to LV. I flew Continental nonstop from NJ. I flew in August and booked the flight sometime in June, with taxes it was just over $300. Today I go online to book the same flight for this coming August and all Continental's fares are $475+

Does anyone have tips on when to book flights to LV for the best rates? I would strongly prefer to fly Continental (trying to rack up my onepass miles).

Always book 28-45 days out from departure.

just from price watching, Id say 30+ days advance is usually better. Every place is seasonal, so if your booking in the off season, sometimes you can book closer.

If you are flexible, check out www.airfarewatchdog.com You enter your desired departure or arrival city and you will be emailed alerts when crazy discounts are available.

I booked a trip from honolulu to boston for $365 roundtrip last summer! You just need to be flexible in your trip and be able to book on the spot cause they don't last. Just another idea...

Continentals EWR to vegas prices have been going up quickly. Before I could get high 2's to 3's 3-4 weeks before my trip. Now it's high 2's -3s a month and a half to 2 months before my trip and 5-700's around the 3 week mark. That's what I've been seeing on my last few trips. So... book now before continental jacks it up again (and it will...)

I travel between 30,000 and 50,000 miles per year...

To reiterate, from my experience, the most opportune window to book domestic flights is 28-45 days out; 45-60 days out for international flights, btw.
