how do independent promoters make money

I contacted an ind. promoter for guest list, 8 girls/4 guys, thinking he worked for the club.

He said he'd get me in free, but that he's an ind. promoter. Basically that I'd have to meet him at a certain time (10, early), we'd walk in together and he'd have bottle service. I could sit with him for a bit and the girls would have some open bar.

How is this profitable for him? Does he get all of his money from tips? If so, what is expected of me for 12 people?

I've never dealt with an ind. promoter before and not knowing why his actions make sense from his perspective makes me uncomfortable.

Not trying to imply he's doing anything underhanded, it's just puzzling to me.

they get paid off of how many people they get into the club you should give him some money, he is essentually getting free bottles and letting you drink off them, BUT he still has to tip the server and busser so if you give him money it will help with tip for them
