Our bachelor party is staying at the Monte Carlo the 11-13th. Anybody have any experience there? Are we in a good location as far as being close to some of the main attractions in vegas? How far are we from some cheaper liquor/beer stores? Also, does anybody have any experience with the pool at the Monte? Can we bring our own drinks down to the pool or is there a bar there that we have to buy from? Somebody had mentioned hitting up the carnival something area on saturday....what is this venue? Thanks a bunch!

I stayed once at MC for a short stay.
-rooms are standard, nothing special, but ours was clean
-great location. not sure about the booze, but everything else is walking distance, esp. lots of other casinos with nightlife/atmosphere
-service is good, they a had great brew pub if your into that, and fairly decent food options at good value.
-casino sucks. small/little atmosphere.
-no nightlife.
-pool is pretty small, nothing special.
The place they were referring to was Carnival Court. Its essentially an outdoor bar at Harrahs, with a dance floor and I believe usually a live band. Its a fun place, lots of drinking going on and usually a fun crowd. Relaxed casual attitude, totally different from the club scene in my opinion.

I agree with all the above. I liked the pool because we always found a chair, the waitstaff was great, food and drink at the pool was reasonable and we enjoyed meeting the other vacationers. Rooms are eh...nothing too fancy but comfortable and clean.

Monte Carlo is in a perfect location as far as being on the strip as it's in the middle-south end. As far as the hotel itself, it's pretty standard like Maximus mentioned. Nothing brand new or spectacular, but it'll definitely do the trick.
As for the carnival something or other...they were probably referring to Carnival Court down the strip at Harrahs. Great spot during the day, as it has a lot going on at the bar, which is surrounded by cheap blackjack tables. Always shots being poured and good or live music being played. I highly recommend it for a day spot if you don't wanna hit any of the pool parties. Enjoy!
