  • Good music venues in or around Anaheim??

Hey guys i'm gonna be in Anaheim for 4 nights prior to vegas and being an avid music fan would love top catch a gig while in the states. Only problem, is I dont know any music venues (besides chain reaction, which one of my favourite bands, Polar bear club are playing at 6 days prior me getting there )

I enjoy most music genres, i'm not necessarily looking for 'big' bands to see, just a good venue, that some live music is played at, with a sweet people in attendance.

I would love to see some punk/hardcore, but i love indie, rock, ska, electro, folk, acoustic etc anyways

Bands i like, to give you an overview of my taste, that might help:
Gaslight Anthem, the Doors, A Wilhelm Scream, The Smiths, Interpol, De La Soul, Four Year Strong, Jack Johnson, Brand new and hell of a lot more!!

***update*** Also any good club's/lounges, bar's etc recommendations around the area (Anaheim, Fullerton) would be appreciated! We're gonna be there tues - fri.

    cheers in advance

I'm not from there but I do know of one for sure.

    HOUSE OF BLUES!

I took the liberty of running a search of the dates I think you might be around for.

    http://www.houseofblues.com/tickets/...2010&x=47&y=21

Looks like there's some cover bands which are usually decent.

    Foo Fighters Cover Band
    Nirvana Cover Band
    Stone Temple Pilots Cover Band
    Soundgarden Cover band
    No Doubt Cover Band

I personally LOVE all of those bands especially Nirvana...should be awesome!

    Hopefully this gets you started.

House of Blues is definitely a good option.

Google OCWeekly.com. It's the local newspaper/magazine for the area. You can search their calendar for the dates you're going to be here.

You can also check out the Grove in Anaheim, its a concert venue. Not sure if you're going to have a car, but downtown Fullerton has a ton of bars and live music. Once you're there, you can bounce around between probably 10 (maybe more) different bars within a block radius. There's a decent sized University there, so it's a college-aged crowd.

I'll post more once I they come to me.
Oh, P-tr-ck, I STILL need to borrow your German Leg Breaking Machine....Thx.

+1 to all the options Moe mentioned. If you want some kick back bars with that type of music, you might also want to check out down town Fullerton. Its only like the next town over, and takes about 10 minutes from Anaheim.

10 - 15 minute cab rides are no problem. So Fullerton is sounding real good.

Also would you guys know approx. how much a cab(taxi) would cost from LAX to anaheim??? We are tossing up whether to cab it or organise a lift of some sort.

It looks like Guttermouth, a punk band, is playing at the Slide Bar in Fullerton on July 1st. It's been a while since I listened to punk, but I think I remember them being not terrible.

Also, a taxi from LAX to Anaheim seems like it'd be unreasonably expensive. You might want to look into one of the many shuttle services that go to LAX like Super Shuttle.
